Do you mind if people call you babe?

I always find myself cringing when my OH calls me babe but have never mentioned it to him, but don't have a problem with my friends calling me hun. OH also uses pal, mate and bud on male friends which sometimes makes me squirm!
Can't bring myself to think of and use a pet name on him, seems like something only to be done to women. But I have, jokingly called male friends sweet-cheeks etc in the past
 awkward me!
Also one that really riles me is when a parent will say to their child "Could you move out of the way for that LADY"
 I don't feel old enough to be a lady I'm a girl (I'm 28!) 0 -
No don't bother me at all.:A0

I don't mind. What sets me off is when people call me by my second name. haha0

I'm not keen on 'babe' or 'hon'! Ugh ugh ugh.
But I find it 'pet' and 'love' really endearing - probably because older people tend to say them lol.
I went to visit a friend in Manchester once, and an elderly neighbour of hers called me 'c.o.c.k' (like Bet Lynch in Corrie) - I laughed my head off! It was so sweet.

Oh, and it also annoys me when people write 'hun'.
At least 'hon' is short for 'honey'. !!!!!! is 'hun' short for??

For some reason it conjures up associations with being a bit of an airhead or nothing more than looks. 'She was a bit thick, but such a babe' type thing. Just me?0 -

Ha I feel like that too! Was truly gutted when I was walking past a playground a month or so again and some young lads shouted "Hey, Mrs! Can you throw our ball back over?"0 -
I thought political correctness had put paid to pet names, especially from officialdom. But no - the security guy in the Job Centre called me 'sweet' last wk, and a police officer called me 'my love' yesterday. I don't mind at all, am just surprised they haven't had to cool it a bit0
