My high-interest (was it called Regular Saver?) account with them has ended. Not sure whether to open another one. I never knew you could add £300 in month 1, £600 in month 2, £900 in month 3 up to a total of £3.6k.... I was adding £300 per month!0

You can't do that; you can only pay in more than £300 per month if you have paid in less than £300 in previous months. For example, if you only pay in £25 in month one, then you can pay in up to £575 in month two. If you pay in the full amount for the first month, £300, then that's the maximum you are allowed to pay in for month two.0 -
Am getting hacked off with First Direct and not being able to make new payments without creating a "transaction security code". Which never seems to work and all I get is a message to call quoting a TSN reference.
Am thinking of moving to Club Lloyds. Is this any better?0 -
My FD Secure Code always works first time, using the FD app.
Lloyds have a very different system - you receive an automated call with a code on your preferred phone number when you set up a new payment, and you have to enter that code to confirm the payment.
If you go for a Club Lloyds account, you might also be able to earn interest and benefit from the other perks they offer. But unless you pay in £1,500 a month, the account has a monthly fee of £5.
I have accounts with both and wouldn't give up either as both have their uses.0 -

Club Lloyds is really good. I have the account. However at around 1am this morning, I was doing my monthly "recycling of funds" between my different current accounts and one transaction got blocked. So I rang the number on the screen, got through to their fraud department who asked me so many multiple choice questions from my credit file, my head felt like it was beginning to spin. However, I do appreciate the need for security so I am not complaining too much.
I also have the FD account and received the security key thing about 6 months ago. TBH, I have only used it once and that was to activate it. You can still log on and do stuff on your internet banking without the key. My monthly payments go to my FD current account from my main current account and then by SO to my regular saver account so I hardly use the account for payments et al.
In summary, both accounts are very good. FD customer service is top notch especially for "night owls" like me and also very friendly.£47605.33 outstanding in C.C (£8000 Interest free till January 2025)0
