Won't the catflap have an extra 'door' thing that you can close if you don't want him to go out yet Piq? I have a dog flap for my little dog (which is no bigger than a catflap :rotfl:) and that has a solid door that you can push down to stop the mutt going through when/where you don't want her0

Must be a bit worrying if you don't feel he is ready but like others have said perhaps it has a 'lock' or something or would that just confuse him.0

I'd forgotten about the guillotine slot in door bit. If there is one it should save moving the bin every night!Must be a bit worrying if you don't feel he is ready but like others have said perhaps it has a 'lock' or something or would that just confuse him.
I think he's ready, it's me that's not! I'm going to worry that he won't come home and will get lost trying to go back to the old house.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

No sign of cat flap man, but he could have been the call I missed earlier. Can't believe how worried I am about letting a cat out for the first time in a new place. I've had many cats over the years and they have all been okay about coming home. But I've never moved house with one before, nor have I had one quite as simple as Colin
A very spendy day todayThe car was serviced. £175  Not too bad I suppose bearing in mind it hasn't seen a service in at least three years. It just needed new brake pads at the front and some anti-freeze. The servicing is now built into my annual budget as part of the £250 a month I move across to the annual costs account. I pay all my insurances as a one off annual payment ensuring there is no interest to pay. Also included in that amount are MOT, car tax, cat costs and Christmas.
I also picked up half a dozen pack of dried porcini mushrooms, coconut milk and coffee as they were all on special offer. The money saved will transfer across to savings tomorrow when I check the bank account.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

No doubt that Colin knows what a cat flap is for. From the moment it was installed he was trying to put his paw through. I put the bin in front of it until this morning.....
Colin is out there, he may turn up at your doorstep! I moved the bin and unlocked the cat flap at seven this morning and haven't seen him since:( He was sent out into a frosty morning with the sun just rising and with a very empty tummy! Now all I have to do is worry whether he'll ever come home again
I'm so darn daft that I've left the backdoor open in case he can't use the cat flap to get back in with....consequently, it's freezing in here!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Oooooh please let us know when Colin returns safely, his on-line fan club are going to be wondering about him until he returns (from his wanderings!):(The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

He's back. In fact he's been back several times :T Mind you, he won't use the cat flap on the way back, only on the way out:wall: If he can jump onto the windowsill he can hop back through the cat flap. Meowing pitifully isn't always going to work, especially when I'm at work during the day!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

How about putting a treat just inside the cat flap opening which may encourage him to use it
Glad he's had a successful first day of using it

Loving my kitty cat

So glad he's back. He knows where he's well off!
One of my cats used to get herself halfway through the cat flap, see me and, with great difficulty back out again where she would lift the flap so that it dropped back noisily until I would open the door to let her saunter in! She always managed to use the cat flap easily if I wasn't around. What is it about cats having servants?!0
