Can't sleep and came on here, couldn't leave without saying how very, very sorry I am to hear that Captain is at the Bridge, Piq.
Bless him always, it was good that you were able to have him close to you at the end.
Thirty years.. that is ten years more loving companionship than almost every other type of animal companion, excluding birds and tortoises.
Stand easy, Captain. Well done.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Ah the Captain crossing the bridge to the green meadow on the other side ... I thought it was thunder we were having, but it was the thundering hooves on the dry pasture as he frolicked back in his youth ! Always sad for us humans, but remember Piq, time is nothing over there and you and he will meet again someday. ❤️Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0

Initially I was happy to see your diary again but that quickly turned to sadness and tears when I read about your dearest Captain.
It is a love you will never forget.

Sending hugs across the broadband waves too. I think Greying Pilgrim has said what I also feel (and I wouldn't have been able to express it so well).
Thanks to Captain for the marvellous stories he provided, may he enjoy the green pastures and watch over you.
Thank you for sharing his stories so generously, Piq. They are a wonderful tribute to him.
I hope your Dad's health improves and that 2015 is kind to you all.
