Dear Piq - so lovely to *see* you again..... but so desperately sad to hear about The Captain. I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling, 30 years of companionship is epic.
I'm glad that The Captain bowed out gracefully. And I'd just like to say 'thanks' to him, for the delight and mirth; that reading all about his antics, brought to me - through reading your diaries. He had a good life; and he made life good.
Thanks The Captain. Thanks Piq
I hope you come back to us with a new diary, when the time is right.

I'm still reeling from it. I know he had a good life and lived to a great age for a horse and I take some comfort in the fact he didn't suffer any illness or trauma. I'll always love and miss him. I miss little Noah too. I feel bad about sending him home. However, I couldn't keep him on his own, he needs other horses to be with, he hated being on his own.
I will start another diary, probably tomorrow. And to start it off on a happier note I'll post a picture or two of Colin and Casper, who for the main part, get on well together.
Dad is still very frail and Mum worries about him continually. I spend a lot of time just being there and doing what I can.
Work chugs on. The winter means less customers, so less hours, but I earn enough to live on.
I have been debt free for a year now, I have spent a lot since the Captain left me and I need to rein it in. It won't ease the grief or bring him back.
Love to you all

So very sorry to read of your loss.
I can totally understand how you are feeling, my old girl of 33 left me for rainbow bridge 2 years ago, I'd owned her for 23 years. After visiting her twice a day for those 23 years I was completely lost, when I no longer needed to :-(
Big hugs to you , here's hoping my girl & the captain a running free in pastures green
