Hello, welcome and behave yourself thoughts heading Casper's way xxGood enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

Crikey Piq, post of epic proportions.
So lovely to hear from you, and sending best wishes for speedy recovery for your Dad, and happy thoughts for everyone else.
It sounds like you've had a very hectic few months.
Hope your Dad finds the light at the end of the tunnel - could something like doing jigsaws help? Less focused than reading but something to entertain and keep the brain working a bit?
Hope Colin and Casper make friends - if Colin is prepared to share his pies - and that the bigger boys get over their fear of the chooks.
And I hope you are able to find 5 mins each day to put your feet up, enjoy a glass of wine and relax."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Thanks for the welcome back:hello:
I'm off to work now. Done horses, cats and wretched rooster. I'll pop back this evening with more details of Dad, Casper and job. (note finances get no mention:rotfl:)

I'm not sure if this is going to get posted or not. Last night's storms have done something to the power. 'Tis on and off like a celebrity romance. Just as well I was having salad for dinner, anything cooked would have been a disaster.
I don't think there is anything I can do for Dad at the moment. He doesn't want to do anything. He just sits in his chair. It frightens me that he has given up, I do think this is the case. Even his voice has gone weak and croaky. Yet, in some ways he seems to enjoy it. I can't put it into words at all.
All I know, and please don't misunderstand, I don't enjoy going to see him. He was so vibrant and he is a shell of the man at the moment. When you talk to him, he has all his mental faculties, but he won't do anything.
Mum runs round him all the time trying to interest him in something. She cooks his favourite food, arranges for friends to come round and endlessly chatters away. It is very difficult to watch. I want to do something, but there is nothing I can do.
I'm going to save Casper for tomorrow, providing I have electricityHe's been hissed at by Colin for running up to greet him. Casper chirrups whenever he sees Colin, very sweet in my opinion. Obviously, not the cat way of doing things though.

Hooray lovely to hear from you Piq!
So sorry your Dad has had a rough time of it. Must be very frustrating when you have a 2 year old to deal with again!
You are right the world is BONKERS. So lovely to hear you have a Colin friend OK potential friend (not food thief Colin honest!). Hope everything continues to improve and really hope work is going well.
Having a giggle about scary eggs on the field.
Casper is a food thief :rotfl:If I leave the kitchen door open, he's in there like a rocket straight to colin's food bowl.
Scary eggs are fairly easy to find, just lead the horse round the field.....Cheery_Daff wrote: »Aw, so sorry to hear about your parents, but I'm glad you've got some help going in for your sake and theirs. Must be difficult all round.
Hooray for Casper though (Casperwhat an excellent name
) Hope Colin comes to appreciate him in time...
You look after yourself lass xx
Ah Cheery, can you guess what colour he is?Eager_Elephant wrote: »Thank goodness you are back Piq.
Sorry to hear things have not been well with your dad.
As soon as I read about what your dad was going through it reminded me of a newspaper article which talked about older people going under anaesthetic and the changes it caused. They interviewed some older people who have exactly the same symptoms as your dad and they all said they wished they hadn't had the op.
I can't find the exact article but this makes quite interesting reading (i'm not saying your dad has dementia but it does mention surgery affecting the mental health of older people) - http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=1435
Hopefully your dad will improve with time and be back to how he was before the operations.
Glad that Colin has a potential friend - fingers crossed they start getting on.
And as for those cockerels and hens and those eggs :eek:
Hope the job is going well.
Hiya EE!
Funnily enough I have thought this about operations on the elderly for quite a while. However, my experience was with my late cat, the Bear. He had an anesthetic for teeth removal and very soon after developed feline dementia. I had to have him put to sleep soon after as he went rapidly downhill with no hope of recovery. I have always blamed the operation.
I don't think Colin will every like Casper, I can only hope for toleration or a complete ignore statusTotal debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Oh your poor mum and you having to cope with such a change in your dad. It sounds to me that perhaps your dad is grieving for his mobility and has probably had a fright regarding his mortality. I hope he sorts himself out soon but am glad you've managed to persuade him that help is a necessity.
Hello :hello: to Casper, I hope Colin welcomes you soon.
I'm not surprised to hear you haven't felt up to speaking to friends Piq but am so glad you are ok. Remember to take the odd bit of time for you.
Glad Noah is looking after Captain well. LOL scary eggs x
Some days I think Dad is sulking, just a giant sulk at the injustice of everything. I want to shake him and shout at him sometimes. All I want is my real Dad back, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.
The weight of it all has meant I have neglect all human friends. Awful as it sounds I've been too tired, too fed up or just plain can't be bothered. What an awful thing to saysorry! I'm surprised anyone has bothered to talk to me just because I've chosen to reappear.

Colin will never share a pie, not now, not ever:rotfl:Trouble is, Casper is a rocket thief, far lighter and quicker than Colin. It's certainly keeping me on my toes:rotfl:

Thank you beanie. It's horrible watching your parents grow old. Most your life they seem indomitable.
