I was so tired last night and yet didn't sleep that well, too many thoughts going on at the moment. Still tired but nowhere near as bad as I felt last night.
The first hiccup in the sale of the house has happened. The the buyers of the house of the people buying my house [got that?:rotfl:] Still haven't got their mortgage, something about them being self-employed first time buyers. I was led to believe everything was signed, sealed and delivered. I have agreed with the estate agent to give them two weeks then offer it to the other interested party. He has told all parties concerned what is going on. The survey on my house is still going ahead on Thursday.
I may have to work Saturday evening and miss my dad's birthday dinner, I am pretty upset about it. Dad is increasingly frail and I'm not sure how many birthdays he has in front of him. But there is nobody to cover work and as the newbie it falls to me..... I haven't broken the news to the parents yet, still hoping for a minor work miracle.
Another £35 of sales on eb@y today. All packed up and ready to post tomorrow. I need to list some more bits and pieces, just trying to decide what I am happy to start at 99p. The back bedroom looks like a jumble sale:o However, the eb@y earnings after all the fees is now £750, not too shabby when you consider how much I hate doing it!
The weather has a decided nip about it, I'm wearing a thick jumper and I think the pjs will be on tonight. You know me, all glamour.....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Fingers crossed for you having no more problems with the sale and for a miracle at work to free you for Saturday evening.
Chilly here too, I think I have a cold coming on and OH has taken pity on me and put the heating on this evening. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

Piq - any chance work could accept a plate of pre-made cheese or ham baps - just for one night?
I know it's not the same as the fare that they're used to, but it would make them appreciate you all the more when you're back doing the 'normal' menu.....:D
Oh, and if the buyers of your house are so keen, it's up to them to organise a bridging loan - not your fault about their buyers.

Yup, agree you should have a chat with the boss about the Saturday - after all you if weren't originally due to work and your Dad's birthday dinner was arranged beforehand, you're not obliged to fill in. As Greying has suggested, could a selection of pre-made sandwiches stand in for the night?"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

. . . . . . and if you really love your table then keep it (as long as it will fit in where you are going to put it). You've done so well with your ebay selling etc. and you will hopefully be in pocket after the house sale. Please don't get rid of *everything* and then regret it later.0

Laughing gently and fondly at all of you dear friends.
I don't just do the food. I open up or close depending on shift, balance the figures, man the bar, man the coffee and biscuits, rent out the game equipment, clean most things with the exception of the toilets, do the ordering and anything else that needs doing. There are quiet bits, that's how so much eb@ying is happening, but I do work hard for my dollar!
The boss is on holiday, so effectively there is no boss. Nobody else is able or prepared to cover me so looks like I'm working. I will break the news to the parents tomorrow.
Just packed up another two parcel sales, one had no bids on it whatsoever this morning by this afternoon it was up to £28. The other item got a bid on it straightaway at 99p and stayed at 99p. You just can't tell how things will go. There is free listing tomorrow and up and including the weekend for 10day listings, meaning I can clear some more stuff. I will be so glad when all of this is over. I never seem to stop!
When I got home this evening I swapped my duvet. I now have the thicker one on the bed, I was cold last night!
I'm going to buy some of those vacuum bags, I already have a few, they're brilliant for making large things smaller, spare duvets, pillows etc. I've already sucked the air out of some cushions and throws - such fun :rotfl:
Not heard anymore from the estate agent regarding the buyers and their buyers, I'll just carry on as before. The surveyors come tomorrow, they'll be tripping over piles of stuff everywhere, I might have to rescue them from the eb@y pile....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

It certainly sounds as though you are on top of things - even if that is balancing on the top of your ebay heap!
I'm sure your parents will be understanding about you needing to work that evening. Maybe you can have a quiet celebration with just them and you at some other time. They may look on it as extending the celebration! Mind you, I'm not a party animal so it's easy for me to say . . .0 -
Forgot to say . . .
Do share how you get on with the vacuum bags. I've been toying with getting them for ages - small house and too much stuff and all that. Somehow I've never justified the cost . . .
You are doing so well with ebay. It still confuses me (not difficult!!) and I don't understand pricing and bidding etc. This week I had six bids on a dress in one hour and nothing since.0
