That's exactly what I thought but didn't like to say out loud but I know Piq is an expert at all things courier related so hoping she would talk me through it :rotfl:

I think we need a local meet up - never mind bring a bottle, instead it's bring some boxes (not wine:cool:) :T

Hardly an expert, but I do use a courier quite a bit. I've been using myhermes, they've been pretty good so far.

I will accept your very kind offer as long as I pay the courier costs. £4.20 up to 5kg in weight.

I am certainly in a county, whether it's next to yours I don't know:rotfl: I will pm you shortly!

  • Hi I know it looks like you have it sorted already but I work for Asia and if others in the company are anything like ours they'll happily provide you with their apple boxes and bubble wrap.

I always get asked for these by customers and happily take stacks out to their cars for them, it's always very much appreciated and it also takes them off our hands!

Also thanks for your tip about rounding down in the online banking yesterday, it's going to be an amazing way of saving for me!

    . . . . . . and breathe!

Seriously - you need to slow down a bit or you will be fit for nothing.

Do you actually have a date for moving?

No date yet, but it's supposed to be asap  I breathed at least twice today....

To save time and cut down on chasing your *rse you may want to consider the following: baking tins straight into metal recycle doorstep collection same with any old bedding etc that you are throwing out - well thats if they will take it - they do here :D Dont bother with Eb*y for that old PC unless you think its going to make some serious money - put it on Fr**cycle .........actually same with bedding sometimes animal shelters/rescue centers are happy to take things like blankets duvets towels etc and of course any freeglers will collect from your home at your convenience :) Finally, take up E-Es offer! They don't come better than that.

Brilliant thank you! I dropped all the old towels off at the animal rescue. Excellent for drying doggies. Didn't get round to the computers anyway. Only one of them might be worth a few pence, the Mac. I'll have a look on eb@y and see what they're going for first.
Piq I'm sure you're near me somewhere (maybe 30 miles tops?) I don't have any boxes but I live on an army estate and there are dozens of boxes going free every day it seems. If you like I can source some and either drop to you or same as EE says courier to you (although never used a courier and not sure what to do there :o ) let me know x

I've worked out which town you're in, the army bit might have given it away and yes, it is about 20 or so miles away. I'm near the next large town down the road. I will pm you too!

    Evening one and all!

    • Finding the missing info and documentation for the solicitor Done
    • clearing the airing cupboard of old bedding and towels, just leaving the bare minimum Done and donated to animal rescue
    • Clearing out some more books and taking them to Oxfam on the way to meet Dad for breakfast Done and another pile sorted to drop in on the way to the coffee shop tomorrow
    • Shredding more paperwork and filing away some/all of the filing basket/setting up moving file Done. Four dustbin sacks of shredding. Filing completely up-to-date
    • Clearing out the baking tins, need to get rid of the manky ones Not done yet
    • Sorting through more clothes and bagging them up for 'return to earn' Started. About half a bag done
    • Sort another batch of CDs for zapper Not started
    • Sort through all the stuff that has made its way into the utility room - bin as much as possible Not started
    • List on eb*ay the Captain's saddle, bridle, stirrups, bit and some rugs that don't fit him anymore - free listing weekend Couldn't face doing it. So listed some other stuff instead
    • Clear down data on an old computer and put on eb*y Nope
    • Audit the freezer and start planning meals around what's in there Nope
    • Change the bedding Done
    • Iron some clothes for the week Nope. Might have to go naked
    • Package up the eb*y items that have sold today - I sold five buttons for £10 :rotfl:how weird is that?:rotfl:Done. Potentially after buyers have paid up have made about £50

Well that should keep me busy until lunchtime, what shall I do in the afternoon?

I've raced round all day, so it seems. Anything I've achieved is hidden behind a cupboard door, ie the cupboard is cleared out and almost empty. The office is starting to resemble a dumping ground.

Listed another ten items on eb@y and discovered something at the back of a cupboard that might be worth a couple of hundred pounds. I've run out of oomph now so it will have to wait until the next free listing weekend.

The first round of solicitor paperwork has been sent off and another batch of books is ready for oxfam

I just had soup, a roll and some cheese for dinner, too tired to cook! But not too tired to have a glass of wine in a minute

Tomorrow is the shift at the coffee shop and to be honest I'm not looking forward to it. The atmosphere between the staff is toxic. Luckily I'm only doing four hours, but the dislike they feel for each other is very draining. At the moment I can't say goodbye to the extra £125 a month though. Still you never know what new and interesting customer I might meet.

Colin's sign has fallen over completely, it's not that flimsy it's made up of two boards hammered together with a piece of wood. Only about waist height and fairly robust. Well that is until Colin jumps on it :rotfl:

Hello SS :hello::hello:and welcome to my diary and friends!

I take it you're not just referring to the continent then? :rotfl:

Lots of us round down. It has a two fold benefit. Firstly, it chips away at your debt fairly painlessly. It's surprising how much you pay off over a few months. And secondly, it makes you look at your banking every day. Means you know exactly what's going on in there!

Stick with it. Takes time but so many folks have become debt free on the boards. Just don't be over-ambitious to start with, sure fire way to think you've messed up and give up.

It's got to be said I'm pretty taken with the idea of drinking our way through the boxes. Naturally I'd use them for packing afterwards. Sounds so much more interesting than starting with empty boxes....

  • but I work for Asia

Oops! I meant Asda haha :o stupid auto correct was using my phone

Yeah one of the main things I need to be careful about is over doing it straight away. Taking things one step at a time will ensure I get there, but I can be impatient sometimes.

Can't wait to see how much this rounding down will save in a month though :D

Silly spender~~Maybe you could concentrate on your Argos card first as I think the APR will be higher than on your OD.

Had to shoot off last night, DD and DS3 turned up to tell me all about the wedding they'd attended.

Off to the coffee shop in a while. DD still asleep in bed! I'll be back later to pm folks and continue wittering.
