Understatement of the year!! couldn't believe they did it all there and then, normally you have to go home and wait for a call to come back a few days later, didn't have time for worry, don't think they were very busy,so just got it done
Good idea to go give blood :A ,wish I could,i take enough of it from the supplies, wish I could give some back ;) but mine would be the 'extra value blue and white stripe' version and not the taste the difference :rotfl:
    LIH

At least its done and out of the way and Im glad your ok :):)

DD2 had a couple of transfusions when she was a baby so I shall use her and you as my motivation now to give that blood - I'm A- too so really thats even more of a reason. :T

I've just spent the last couple of hours in the hospital because my son was bitten by his friend's dog, it's made a horrible mess of his hand. Son's ok though, they didn't stitch it even though it's a wide wound because they wanted to give any infection a chance to escape, so he's all bandaged and in a sling with antibiotics.

He was starving so I took him for some lunch in the hospital canteen, I had a big cheese and onion roll (560 calories) and a slice of cake, (3 million calories), so in one meal I've gone 10 points over my daily limit already. Never mind, I honestly think cake is allowed in times of stress.

I agree totally. Stress = being allowed to eat what you want!!

Hope your son's hand gets better really quickly.

I'm doing better today. I have grapes and strawberries on my desk, I had a salad with chicken and potatos for lunch, and I've had some yogurts.

    Feeling much better for it.

OMG Toto I'm so glad he is ok - I am big dog lover but the more and more I hear of things like this the more is scares me (we have some personal (friends) experience of tragedy in these circumstances too)

You (well maybe your son ;)) deserve that cake and are thoroughly excused.

Thanks guys, the dog is a staffy labrador cross, he was a rescue dog so probably has had a tough life. He gets very upset when people go to leave the house and he doesn't like my son and the rest of their gang going round because he knows that my son's friend will go out with them. He's obviously been left alone a lot in his life. I do feel sorry for the poor thing but that said I'm worried about my boy going round there again.

My son had been in the house for an hour or so and said he was coming home because he wanted some lunch, no doubt with the rest of his mates because it seems mine is the only house with food in it:rolleyes: he gave the dog a biscuit and went to open the door when the dog lept up and clamped himself onto my son's hand. He had no choice but to kick the dog in the tummy to get it off.

I have spoken to the mum who said the dog has never bitten anyone before and she will make sure that it's shut away before anyone leaves the house. I don't know about you but I think she should do a bit more than that. I don't know what, I'm not suggesting she has it put to sleep or anything but surely there must be something that can be done to help it? Training, medication, muzzle? I don't know, but I'd hate for it to really go nuts one day and hurt someone more seriously.

I would tell her your fears. I know if it had happened to any child of mine they wouldn't be stepping foot in that house again. Just in case.

I'm so glad he's okay Toto. What a horrible thing to happen. I think you are right that maybe something more should be done to stop it happening again though - if it really went for someone, it would end up being put to sleep, so it would be better to tackle it now before someone gets seriously injured.

I feel that way too lucy, the problem is he's 17 this year and has his final gcse tomorrow. When he goes out I've got little control anymore over where he goes. I don't want to lay the law down but I have told him how I feel and have asked him to not go to the house. He probably won't for a week or two but you know teenagers.

I totally agree, I'll phone the mum again later and have a longer chat. My son was lucky in that he was big enough to kick the dog off, if he'd been a small child he would have been badly hurt I'm sure.

I do. You don't stand a chance!!! (I'd assumed he was younger!)

In that case as he is nearly an adult, there is very little you can do. Just tell him to be careful and alway ensure that the dog is under control when he is about to leave.
