Evening and thank you for your post, I will try my best not to judge others before getting to know them, especially after seeing how people from a variety of backgrounds have been so kind to me on this thread. :)

Not sure what you mean by "cup measurements"? Literally a cup as in teacup or is this something else?

  • Cups are actually a measurement, used in America. But I have a set of cups which you can buy here, although the measurements don't seem to be used here much in recipes.

I think you could probably get away with a teacup, as long as you use that for all the ingredients, it will work.

Te be honest, I'm a bit of a chuck it in, looks right, yeah lets bake it!! But it is an easy recipe for a beginner, if you follow what I put. The more you make it, the more you might adapt something. Sometimes I'll throw in a little bit of coffee (made up with boiling water), or add some fudge bits. Yummy yummy in my tummy :D

Hi Alex panic attacks suck and its the strangest sensation. I get them and it can seem as if they come for no reason. I got the last one whilst at the hairdressers and Im sure she must have thought I was some kind of weirdo Needless to say Iv not been back, lol.
Talking about hairdressers one I frequented used to have a man come in and ask for the rubber cap to be put on his head then he would pull it off and run away. Now thats weird.
    Im full of useless facts.

Alex Im sure everyone on here judges others so on that your not alone. I tend to say things before putting my brain in gear. So cheer up your in a not so exclusive club.

HBS: Not sure about tasty at this stage, we would be happy with edible and for them to not give us food poisoning! ;):) Wife has said I must stop being such a "perfectionist" but yes, I'll secretly be annoyed if they don't taste nice and look misshapen.

Don't worry about how they look Alex. Pop over to the DFW baking club thread and see the picture of the chocolate cake I baked yesterday. It's a beast! And my Dad even said "well it's not very pretty is it" to which my mother replied "chocolate cake doesn't have to be pretty!" :rotfl: So even though it's pretty ugly it tastes fantastic and hubby and I have eaten loads of it already!

    Thank you all :).

Not feeling too well today, worse still I know it's "all in my head" and I've got to pull it together for work tomorrow. Unfortunately, the morning baking was a non starter after finding we don't have a few of the ingredients. Definitely on the list of things to do with son over the coming week though. :)

Don't really want to see parents today. On the plus side, somebody rang about the watch I put up for sale, if he buys it at price agreed we will be (just) over a third towards paying the credit cards in full (and that is 100% in full).

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Hope you start feeling better.

The baking is fun, eggs, marg or butter, self raising flour and sugar is all you really need. Maybe when you're at your mums for lunch she could give you a wee bag with the bits, say its for mini-k and you just want to try it out before buying huge bags of stuff.

I'd bet any granny would be chuffed. She may even offer to show you how to do it and you can take the goodies home and leave the mess :D

If the sale comes off just think how much you could shift off those debts. You're doing really well...enjoy the beef :A

    Hey Jenn,

Got everything apart from the SR flour (well any flour, :rotfl:). Parents may well have something in their cupboards but you have not met my mother, if you think she'd enjoy baking with our son. 404: page not found = my mother + baking. ;) Mrs. K.'s family would but that is a whole different conversation. ;)

Sunday roast is a mammoth undertaking that involves the pair of them; neither of which have got the hang of Yorkshire pudding or anything that requires more thought than throw it in the oven / on the hob.

I don't see any reason why the sale won't come off, he seems keen enough and the watch is in excellent condition. However, one never knows the mind of a buyer.

We shall still get CB then, unless Mrs. K. does move to the new company. Why I'm getting myself wound up about that, I've no idea after all that's not really anything to do with me (wife's work).

You are getting yourself wound up over it because you care about her. You found your high paying job didn't suit you (even if you were a little slow on the uptake that you would need to then spend less) but you probably feel that she is 'worth more' than her current wage. The thing is, wages are in a large part to get people to do things they wouldn't do otherwise, and the most interesting jobs don't have to pay the highest. Are you more worried that she will sacrifice her enjoyment for money, or that she will pass up this opportunity to earn enough to get the expensive holidays back?

Sorry to hear you are not feeling so good today. I hope you can find something positive at some point throughout that will make you feel a little better. Remember the phrase 'from small acorns mighty oaks grow'.
Do you think that if you wrote a plan of things you need to do for tomorrow you will at least have in your mind that whatever happens today, tomorrow you pretty much have figured out?
Good news on the watch though that is amazing news for money to go towards those debts :j

Hope today gets better. Smile anyway you have nothing to lose and a smile is infectious and turns to laughter if you are lucky :o
