I have to admit putting it like that, I do feel rather embarrassed. Brother-in-Law is convinced his daughter is a "fantastic" pianist. She isn't, she's average. Yes, he's brought around her Grade certificates and mark sheets to "discuss" (read: tell me how brilliant she is and make remarks of "I bet you didn't get marks as good as this?") it with me. Every time I see him I think "TW#T!"

    Q.E.D.
Now if you tell that story to the lady when you apologise you will go from "Tw#t" to "Smart Parent with no illusions & great sense of humour" & Little K will shine on his own merits!

My parents always told me nobody got anywhere in life playing fairly. Unfortunately, my conscience cannot really take screwing people over.
My parents always taught me to be honest & not cheat but that there always would be dishonest cheats in the world, some of whom succeeded hugely in life... good on you for having a conscience despite what you were taught! :T
If I can mess up a cheat's day/career without too much effort, I will - it's what they deserve for screwing others over. Plenty of people have succeeded without stepping on others' fingers on their way up the ladder of life.

Love it.I am going to start awarding that accolade - thanks granarie - person after my own heart I meet those tigers everyday and have to let them down gently

    Ooh goodie - let's have a coffee & compare notes!:coffee:
I also wanted to mention how appalled I am by your earlier comment to Mrs k about baking. This is the 21st century, shockingly men can do that to!
Start with something easy, get little k to help mix, and take something along as a contribution for lunch tomorrow... Best thing is no-one can say you mucked it up if you have little'uns help!
OH & the kids make bread, crepes (have a great old 1950's French cookbook recipe if anyone wants it), flapjacks etc. Men are really good at bread because of the force needed for kneading (that's my story & I'm sticking to it!;)) & according to OH it's very therapeutic...
He had never approached a cooker before DC1 was born but has taken to it like a duck to water! The kids love helping him out too!

At least you voice your opinions though lots of people would avoid doing so. I actually admire you in a way as you are prepared to take the flack and apologise when your wrong.

Totally agree. I was trying to think of a way of saying this, but you've put it better than I could.

C-R: The ones at collection agencies haven't heard from me (until recently) in nigh on two years.

I'm not too bothered about playing the long game (over the F&Fs) as I've already wrecked my credit file anyway. However, I'd rather my money from selling things / extra income goes towards something other than the banks. I don't mean more pens either: towards our son's future or the mortgage or perhaps towards a car or long term, a BTL house.

I have a complaint Mr Alex, - u brought a tear to my eye - with the "towards ours sons future".......

That is so positive thinking, xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Thank you everybody.

A quick response re. the baking, I thought people would realise what I posted was a joke (OK it was in fairly bad taste) but I'm clearly not a male chauvinist. Thank you DFW my son, wife and I will have a go. :)

Not had a very good evening, in fact I've only just come in from being sat in the garden, OK Mrs. K. dragged me in.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Saturday 21st September, 2013.
    Day 20.

    Dear Diary,

I don't know what to write here today. I want to report that I've had a lovely day with my family doing something outdoors in this fine weather before coming home to eat something delicious and writing a happy, positive post for once. However, it I wrote that I'd be lying.

Previously, I had reported feelings of lethargy but nothing like this: today my energy is at an all time low and I am certain that there is little of a future for me. I feel nothing short of an utterly pathetic excuse for a human being. This afternoon for the first time in a while I had a full blown panic attack, yes I was convinced my own death was imminent and my wife rang for help. Help which I do not deserve. I am currently feeling guilty for wasting everybody's time and wish to promise I will get myself out of debt, yet I have a constant small, annoying voice in my head telling me I have no chance of being able to restrain myself. However, I must carry on trying for my little family.

Onwards and upwards for this is no longer the dress rehearsal, it is indeed the real thing.

    Summary:
    NSD. :)

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

    Responses:

    Fc123: I need to "get a grip". :)

Oceanspirit: Thank you for your post. I'm willing to try most things in order to feel a little better than I do right now. :)

Kantankrus: The BTL is something we wish to do long term to fund our retirement. However, I'm not sure it'll happen. :) Yes, I need to get the debts cleared and I will.

Wegle: Thank you for your post. :) I shall still be selling some of my belongings, which should be enough to clear the debt.

Snookey: I have had a long think about how I view others brought up in a different environment to the one I was brought up in. If it helps at all, I do not feel good about the type of person I am / I have become.

Littlegreenparrot: Thank you :). I have already spoken about baking in another post ... Sorry if you took offense to my comment it was really not meant like that.

DFW: We'll have a go (probably take the three of us first time :o).

Snnokey: Thank you. Yes, I have been often guilty of speaking before thinking.

Slowcoachme: The "trinkets" are slowly on their way out! :) As for our financial situation: Mrs K is going back to work full time in around a week (combined monthly income will be about £3350) and we will not be entitled to child benefit / tax credits. In fact, since starting this thread she has been in conversations regarding what we now think was / is an overpayment.

Granaries: Thank you for your post, I'd rather not elaborate in regards to a comment I posted on here earlier but I'll most likely apologise to the lady at the nursery on Thursday. :) As for home made bread, mmmm I can't think of anything nicer to wake up to in the morning. :) (You can tell neither my wife nor I are good at cooking as I'm always on here going mmmm cakes and asking if DFW will bring one to my house one day :rotfl: :D)

    Lannie: Thank you.

Mum2one: Thank you. :) However, in my eyes that statement about my son's future should be the first on any parents list. My son is currently "better off" than I am right now.

Snookey: LOL, you and me both! :)

FC: Not really but I'm sure I'll survive.

Roland: hahaha, can I just be a tiny bit ungrateful that it's beef for the 38th time this year? ;)
