You have come a very long way in just a couple of weeks, yes you will have setbacks, but that does not mean that you have to drop back into "old ways" Be a little more kind to yourself and keep moving forward:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

Thank you FC
.
Will definitely have a go at the budget wine tasting challenge.I do not live near an Asda, the nearest one is about 20 miles away (I think). However, I go by there if I go to Nottingham for anything.
Mrs. K. say she "didn't want things to return to how they were", neither do I. However, I just feel myself beginning to slip, thinking a little bit of what one enjoys is not so bad....2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -

I am unfortunately the kind of person that often jumps into things head first and worries about commitment later, I think things are just beginning to dawn on me that this is really happening. :eek:2018 totals:

Alex, you are at the beginning of your debt busting journey, you will slip sometimes, thats what makes us all human.
Don't beat yourself up about it, guilt is a wasted emotion, once something is done, its over, don't regret it and spoil the enjoyment you had. Instead, do as fc says, buy in some less expensive wines, if you get them on offer in the supermarkets there are sone fantastic deals to be snaffled. Then when you do slip up. And you will, at least its a fiver bottle instead of a tenner !
So instead of £10 spent, its £5 saved .... Female logic here ok ...bear with me.
You have valuable items you can sell, you are already cutting your budgets, and once the lovely Mrs K gets back to work, you will see those debts just vanish , Alex, its not forever .. You can do this. Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0 -
Mara: Thank you for such an encouraging post.
What made the wine purchase all the more worse is we have quite a bit of wine in the house already, I just did something I haven't done since starting this thread: bought something on impulse, because I could.
I don't find working long hours particularly easy (OK it's a big weakness of mine) and when I do, I feel the need to unwind of an evening. Earlier I started looking at things I could buy with the money I have raised from selling a couple of the pens. So annoyed with myself right now, especially as I have spoiled Mrs. K.'s evening too.2018 totals:

hahahaha she'd just wonder what I was after....
Might try and have an early night (got to be up early tomorrow again and would give me the option of trying to make things right with Mrs. K.), parents were also not happy today (son ended up there at last minute again) and I have probably just let everything become too much. We shall see tomorrow, so long as I don't go to Watt's (jewellers that sell some VERY nice pens and watches
) on the way home from my appointment, I should be alright.
