Well, I have read the book cover to cover. Mrs. K. is not going to be pleased that I, yet again, am unable to sleep; it used to annoy her when I was younger and used to sit up reading in the middle of the night (I used to want to study for a PhD, well I still do one day, and started to write a proposal on my chosen topic).
At first, I thought hmmm OK this has got a nice flow to it but hardly seems at all relevant but by the end I understood, well before the end - about half way through him talking to Ruby. Not for a moment did I think it was a true story though and yes, by the end there were tears in my eyes.:o
Being a bit of a thinker, it got me wondering just what is my purpose? Everything often seems so pointless and yes, I am that person (Eddie) who just seems to drift from day to day in the shadow of my beautiful clever wife and happy young son.
This is most likely rather incoherent as it is WELL past my bed time!2018 totals:

I feel I ought to apologise for my ramblings on here last night, if it weren't obvious I was not in a good state of mind. On a positive front I'm having somebody pick one of my pens up today and he wants to look at others with a view to buying a few.
Also, after two sleepless nights Mrs. K. is having a word with her family as she didn't realise they bother me as much as they do. Onwards and upwards, hopefully.

Oh yes, those late night hours when sleep eludes us and all the rubbish that our minds can drag up goes through our heads and cannot be banished:eek:
Great that Mrs K. has realised how the negativity and worse, from her family is bringing you down. Still, new day today, I hope that the parts of it spent solely with Mrs K. and little K will be wonderful and that "other" parts will be bearable, and some wine left for this evening I hope? (written by one who only drinks the occasional G&T, as cannot tolerate much alcohol and NO wine),:(:(, at least I am a cheap date:rotfl:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Great news on the pens, congratulations. Looking forwards to seeing the paid off figure in your signature increasing !
Im so glad Mrs K is going to talk to her family, i would always stand up for my husband against anyone, even my family ... After all, the family were who you were stuck with, the husband you chose for yourself !
Good luck for today, maybe you need to be the worm that turned and just tell them all that while they are under your roof, enjoying your hospitality, they should just shut up and appreciate that their daughter/sister has a nice home and a husband who loves her. Maybe if they saw that you had teeth to bite back with, they would ease up .Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0 -
maddiemay / mara: Thank you. Yes, indeed that figure should be increasing, if he deals on what I think he'll deal on I should have enough to do a F&F on one of the cards.
Got rather a busy day ahead, we are just about to head out to my parents for lunch, then it's 50 miles to Mrs. K.'s parents house this afternoon. I do hope my wife has bought the witch a present and signed a card ... because I haven't!2018 totals:

However, I'm not sure we will still be living here in five years time, my parents have recently made noises about a "house swap" at some point (their house is beginning to get a bit big for them) or of them moving to a much smaller house nearer to town. Honestly, I'm not sure I could afford the utilities bills there. Though by the same token it would be wonderful to see our son grow up in the house I grew up in and everything has been done already.
That's a good idea especially with IHT issues.
Why not? With the debts gone + your income improving you could plan ahead to do this in a years time.
If it is too big you just close off some rooms and shut the rads and heat the rooms you do use.I feel I ought to apologise for my ramblings on here last night, if it weren't obvious I was not in a good state of mind. No apologies required on this board.
Good that she is speaking to them as she probably didn't realise how much it affected you...you obviously do a good job of hiding your feelings.;)
They won't become towers of tact overnight but if you can summon up enough of your 'ignore it' powers, that should help a bit. In fact, I think that's probably the best way forward and don't take it to heart.
Have a good time. Is it beef again?0 -
Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

Well, yes with the debts gone it's all a bit of a different matter.Mrs. K.'s mother is 60 which only serves to remind me that my own parents really are getting older now. Father said today he'd "love to be 60 again" :rotfl:. Yep, it was beef again (honestly it doesn't change unless it's Christmas day
).
I've got a couple of hours doing music theory with the "princess" niece before this dinner out (none of us are likely to be hungry, they could have done this Saturday evening as they know our Sunday arrangements but no ...). Really, the niece is not so bad. However, I did spend about four hours making resources for this which irks me slightly, especially when the teacher is put into context (it's the teenager one).
