Hey Alex, so at one school he has less time with you and Mrs K, also less time to do all the things you never got to do with your parents? And at the other he's home for lunch, and quicker getting to and fro I'll bet. And he's only 4. He's not you but worth working out what you think you'd have preferred to do at 4. And then check it out with him?
And a decision now doesn't bind you for all time if things don't seem to be going right for little k further down the line. So nothing to fret about really. I am not little k either, but I went to a city school, a village school, a grammar school and a private school, a red brick university for a decent degree, plus a former poly uni for postgrad and every single place, meaning the people in it, taught me something new and useful. But best of all I had fun. Hope little k has lots of fun whatever you and Mrs k decide is best.

Oh, and if either of us had had an excellent grounding in maths we might always have been great with money. Or less poor with it anyway:rotfl:

Apparently they are very strong at teaching Maths, the less said about my knowledge of that subject, the better. :o
Well you were good at counting down from a small fortune to zero weren't you ;).
Wish I knew what was best, though. :(
You DO know Alex - now act on it :naughty:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

It will be less of a big transistion if he goes where his mates go. Then he doesn't have to worry about fitting in with new children AND the difference of being at school all the time. Sounds like the village school to me...

I was trying so hard not to say that because only the ks can decide (being Mr Mrs and master k. No grandparents allowed because they had their chance at deciding what was best for Alex. And may have made life quite difficult for him through their choices. Though he is past that and a genius at turning a profit out of stuff only he sees profit in. Chip off old block, probably. Ironic, that.) ...but village school is what I was (maybe possibly perhaps) thinking. But the Ks will decide
Wishing you all the best Alex, Mrs and Master.

Not sure Maths has a lot to do with personal management of the finances, really. :rotfl:

As for knowing about the schools, I know which I think would be the best option for the next two years. However, I'm not sure it would be the best option for a longer term.

His friends from nursery wouldn't be going to our village school. In fact, it's fairly likely my son would be the only new starter there for the year. That said, it won't be so much of a transition for him for other reasons.

It's interesting that people on here do not think my parents opinions count even though they are the ones who've been through this before. They believe they should have a say because he's their grandchild.

    Friday 6th March, 2015.

    Dear Diary,

Unfortunately this week has been a fairly awful one towards the end. Back when I had no qualms about spending money, I think I'd be booking a last minute holiday but these days I cannot face feeling like I've wasted my money. :rotfl: Can hardly believe I'm saying this myself!

I have so many regrets and found myself wondering where I'd be had I the foresight to have been more sensible with money before now.

Nothing much to report on the savings front which is disappointing. However, I'm still actually saving and keeping my records up to date which has to be a positive over spending everything and more without having a clue about the position I'm putting myself in.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

Well I think in most families the "my child my rules" thing applies. It never stopped my father voicing his opinion & being unhappy/bloody minded for a short while. He always backed off though when asked how he would feel if his father had tried to dictate to him how he brought up his children.

Not sure what my father would say to that, he's had very little contact with his family since a long time before I was even born. At this moment in time my parents don't even know an application has been made to the village school.
