  • Hello Alex

Just thought I'd pop in to say hi and see how you're doing, the progress you're making is amazing, you mentioned that Mrs K said she was proud of you, I hope you are also feeling proud of yourself - you certainly should be. As for not having a 'proper job' as your in-laws refer to it, well it strikes me that you are building a career out of something that have both a talent and passion for, something I have to say I am a teensy bit of envious of.

I'm off to watch Educating Yorkshire on catch up now as it sounds as if I'm missing some 'must see' viewing. :D

Keep up the good work and stay strong.

    Bet x
Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.

He has worn sensible socks tonight (so far) but still those brown shoes with a BLACK suit. :rotfl:

Reminds me of a poem my Nan used to quote when I got "uppity" about that kind of thing:

... although I still cringe when I see that sort of sartorial faux-pas (public school makes you cringe a lot, I find)! :o

I don't want him turning into me, I really, truly do not.

And what would be wrong with that? Someone that's friendly? Someone that clearly loves his family (apart from the In/Outlaws!)? Someone that plays and teaches music? Someone that realised that they had to do something about their debts? Someone that started their own business which is doing well?

You are far too hard on yourself. You've been to hell and back, but you're here and you need to be proud that you're dealing with things! You've got family that love you and loads of support on here. I think little K would be lucky to turn into you. But he'll be his own person anyway, a mixture of you and Mrs K and other friends and family, and outside influences :) I just hope he doesn't get a penchant for expensive pens. :rotfl:

Oh my. I'll put in a call to the fashion police :p

ETA: :rotfl: re. the pens, there are more eccentrics who like nice pens out there in this world than just I! ;)

    Lucky for you ;)

hahaha on the petrol ... I'm not much better. However, there are a few stations around here where you can set the machine to an exact amount. ;)

I would LOVE that! I have never seen such a thing. I swear that all the petrol pumps I go to are set so that its either £19.99 or £20.01 :rotfl:

    hahaha :)

Yes, it does perhaps my wife and I don't use our time effectively but yes, 12 man-hours. We'll have a go at the three hour session.

£10.00 p/h here, can believe as everything else it is more expensive in London.

:), I'm really enjoying the music and no, I have ignored it for a long time. About a year ago I was talking about selling my piano and violin (which are worth A LOT of money, more than my debts ;)). However, Mrs. K. refused to let me, I'm glad of that now. :) Our boy seems to love hearing music within the house too.

Hope so! I conducted a few groups during my university days and really enjoyed it.

IMSLP by any chance, re. your mother's music? What instrument(s) does she play?

Could be that one. She plays Piano and has a baby grand that she bought many years ago but had a savings plan that she put into for 25 years to save for it.

We grew up with the sound of her playing all the time. She still does.

My brother is a classical violinist and played in all sorts of youth orchestras. He did a computer programming degree and was one of the pioneers of composing music on a mac. It used to be called jungle (now drum and bass) and he is a well known DJ / Producer / writer within his sector and tours all over the world.

He has seen a drop in income over the past decade or more due to sales of CD's etc as most of his 'fans' can now download his music for free. The big ££ come in when a tune is used in a film soundtrack.

Sadly, his marriage didn't work out and it has been...umm...expensive and he got left with her card debt (from her lavish ways ;)) but they were in his name.

Wish I had pens that would sell for £1000!

Gosh you should be pleased of all the money you'll make. Just think how it will bring the total of your debt down.

Bit indulgent having smoked salmon etc but I suppose a little treat is ok - so long as its not nearly every day!

....but full of good omega numbers and I think it costs the same as bacon per mouthful. You having it with scranbled egg? Eggs are brilliant for raising seratonin levels apparently....so you'll be raring to go tomo. :)

Roland: I am pleased, just a little sad to see things start to go. I know it's rather silly to be attached to such things in reality when there are people a lot worse off than I in this world.

Oh I wish we had such things everyday ;).

Bet: Thank you very much :). I am pleasantly surprised with myself over the past couple of weeks.

As for Educating Yorkshire, I felt a little sorry for Jac Henry (no idea if that is his first and middle name or first and surname). The teachers once again showed their comedy dress sense. Mrs. K. was most disappointed to see little of prom.

Granaries: You are not the only one cringing at that piece ;). However, it was amusing. :) Glad to see I'm not the only one to notice such types of things as the Headmaster's terrible sense of style.

Orange Ena: You are far too kind. :) I try my absolute best with my little boy even though I often feel like the worst father ever. I am also truly ashamed of what I put my wife through when I first became ill. I have a bit of a penchant for expensive things full stop, :rotfl: and appreciate good quality in all types of things (but pens, yes, did at one point get rather out of hand).

hahaha! I just cannot help but cringe at cheap suits (especially if worn with brown shoes which only happen to draw attention). I am also convinced that Headmaster has only one pair of cufflinks which are not very nice ... I bet he signs his documents with a biro too ;);):p

Indeed, rather conveniently lucky for me at the moment!

It is mainly the supermarkets around here (all of which built in the last five years) that have the exact amount set on the petrol pumps.

fc123: I was very fortunate my parents bought me a rather lovely piano when I was a teenager. In fact, that was one of the reasons we bought the house we did ... for my (not so baby) 8' grand, the room it resides in currently isn't quite big enough really.

Some of my fondest memories are playing (and leading) the county youth orchestra many years ago. :) I am afraid I know very little about music technology though. However, you have a very creative family.

I do know a quite influential academic who has wrote a couple of books about film music. Commercial music does seem to be getting much harder to make a living out of these days with all the computer downloads available. Sorry to hear of your brother's marriage breakup, that can't have been easy for him :(.

I will have to wait and see what Mrs. K. makes for me ;).

Whilst I'm thinking about it, I did mean to ask a question in regards to paying my debts off: can I pay off a lump sum whilst staying on the payment plan (frozen charges / interest etc.) I am on?

Just dropping in to say I stumbled across your DFW thread early this morning and read the whole damned lot in one fell swoop:eek:

Found myself shouting, screaming, laughing, crying at my Fr**cycle 24" never used flat screen monitor ( yes Mr K some things are free!) and slamming the desk in anger/despair/outrage and disbelief! Never have I been so engrossed in a thread/diary!! I have only read the first post on this one as I really do have to get on with RL........but I will be back later and will read it all :)

Good luck Mr K ( and Mrs and Little K ;)) Your diary, well for me, may well take over from Mr B.
