Bess: Thank you for the encouragement.

I have to admit to the business debt being a bit of a "blip" when I bought a wedding anniversary present and a watch for myself, I paid off the business debt that was for essential work on the house quite a while back. :o Somewhat ashamed of myself now and can hardly bare to look at (never mind wear) the watch I bought.

Unfortunately, I have not been too well as of late, things seem to have got quite a bit worse since I've gone back to counselling and with my wife going away with our son on holiday very soon.

  • Hi Alex & all the stalwarts,

Haven't been around MSE for a while: money worries meant I had the totally adult, mature reflex (NOT) of burying my head in the sand which is much easier when you're not on here!
Things are a bit less scary now so here I am!

Glad to know that despite some blips you're still nibbling away at the debt Alex, good on you! :TKeep it up!
    Take care y'all

HI Alex, if you can't bear to look at the watch, then logically you should sell it.....Even if you make a loss, it will still free up some cash.

    Hi Granariesgirl,

Glad to hear from you. :)

As for money worries and burying your head in the sand, I know that feeling all too well but glad to hear things aren't so bad now. I'm not really doing well money wise, well not badly as I've not spent anything on myself but also not paying anything off either.

Had a really bad turn this weekend (not money related), as this has been building I could not take the mostly constructive criticism I receive on here so have more or less decided to stop updating this diary. To be honest, I rather miss it but I realise now that I was saying far too much and rubbing people up the wrong way.

    Hi Chev,

Absolutely won't make a loss, it was very cheap for what it is. That is what I think I need to do too but I cannot even face taking photographs of it and should I sell it my wife would only find out about it. Things are bad enough between me and her at the moment.

Good to see you posting Alex.

I know there are things we'll never see eye to eye on on (Great news about the demotion of Mr Gove this week;)) but a bit of healthy disagreement never hurts.

How long before MrsK leaves for her holiday?

Missed you this month on the other thread too:).
  • Ah come back Alex, we'd gotten used to you ;)

Seriously though, I hope you manage to sort things out with you and MrsK. Lots of good wishes.

  • Chin up Alex, remember not many people can come as far as you have while battling depression & a desire for beautiful & expensive things! :T
Also if the watch will sell for more than you bought it for then it is an INVESTMENT - sell it, put the profit towards paying off your debt & re-invest the money in another beautiful thing to enjoy for a short while & sell at a profit & so ad infinitum! Better than putting the money in a savings account at a rubbish rate... :D
Good luck with the family situation, take care.:)

    Hi Alex
If your OH is away at the moment, then you could sell the watch now. Yes this is a bit sneaky but just a thought. Hope you aren't too sad being on your own...

Thank you everyone. I have had a difficult and busy few weeks, on the plus side business is looking up. However, I have not been in a very good place thus I have not managed to get to sorting my finances out, all I know is my hatred for the banks is growing; they seem to exploit people at their most vulnerable a lot of the time.

Unfortunately, I am sliding into bad habits again with the frugal food shopping as well as other, more serious things. Whilst a part of me wishes to start writing entries for this diary again (it did help to change quite a few of my spending habits), the other part thinks I ought to let it die quietly.

maman: Currently I'm too ashamed of my actions to make an appearance on the "other thread". ;)

HBS: Thank you for your encouragement, as always. :)

Granariesgirl: Thank you again. It is indeed an investment ... if I ever manage to part company with it.

Chev: Thank you for your encouraging post. :)

We're a very supportive lot over there. Why not start afresh for August?

If your diary has helped you then why not keep going? Just a thought.:)
