    Maman: Thank you. :)

The diary, whilst it was going did help me to cut my spending significantly. :) However, I'm not sure I can take the personal slights at this moment in time.

In other news, I was incredibly shocked to hear of Micheal Gove's demotion, he had some wonderful ideas as well as some that were perhaps not quite so well thought out but you cannot deny that the man tried his best. Not heard anything from the new lady and it appears she has little knowledge of the education sector (ex Corporate "Lawyer" (I've no idea why they use that word in the UK)). Mind, the new environment secretary has no knowledge about the countryside.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

And, in my opinion, Michael Gove (former journalist) knew nothing about Education (plus he was so arrogant that he wouldn't consult with anyone who didn't agree with him)!!!:rotfl:But we'll never agree on that one.;)

As for personal slights, have you discovered the 'ignore' button?

:rotfl: Perhaps not as I had not thought Gove to be a particularly arrogant person, just one wishing to reform a sector which had suffered under the previous Labour government. However, I would hardly call myself knowledgeable about the Education sector and understand you have a better insight than I.

I do not know about an "ignore" button, where can such a thing be discovered?

I think it is in the User CP settings. It would mean that you can't see posts from a certain person, even if they post on your thread.

Glad to hear that the business is looking up. I also noticed that you haven't updated your debt signature since April. Would that be because of the spending on the watch? But even without any saving surely the loan etc would have gone down.

Ref the watch, would it be enough of a profit, if you sold it to do some of the work you need to do on the house. Ok it isn't debt busting, but it would benefit your biggest asset your property....

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

That's correct. You'll see 'edit ignore list' on there and then anyone that irritates you, you can just wipe them out of your life!! Oh that life had an ignore button.;)

Thought of you this morning: apparently, so I read in my newspaper, there are criminals stealing parts of LR Defenders (doors, bonnets etc) so they can supply the overseas market in readiness for when they stop making them shortly. How many do you have?

I will have a look, not really very good with computers.

In all honesty I've not updated the figures because I've stopped counting, keeping records has never been a strong point of mine.

Not sure I'd label my property as being my "biggest asset"; there is very little equity in the house and an awfully big loan that is nowhere even close to being paid. That said I am slowly getting through some of the work that needs to be done and it's currently looking rather less dilapidated than it did this time last year.

Bet I'm on lots of people's ignore lists, not just on MSE either. :rotfl:

As for the Land Rovers, thefts of both the vehicles themselves and parts have always been high unfortunately, it's sad to hear the latest. You reminded me about one Christmas Eve night that I got pulled over by the police driving my mother's Defender to check my documents as "many of these are stolen". Anyhow, I do not have a Defender, mine is the far superior Discovery model but my mother has a couple and there are more in the family. The favourite parts that are stolen are D2 facelift headlamps and the latest Defender model bonnet.

Gove was, in my colloquial opinion, a "geet big nob 'ed". :)

You know who to pop on ignore, Alex...well, as long as it's not me ;)

Everyone has ups and downs on the way to being debt free. Just got to work through it.

HBS: It appears you are not on my ignore list but your opinion of Mr. Gove does not surprise me. ;)

maman: I'll presume it's not the "clever" part you'd got in mind. I have to admit I do think David Cameron is trying to gain voters by any means necessary at the moment and being unpopular with a vast number of the electorate is why Gove had to be moved. I hope his measures prove successful and we don't end up with Millipede and his Merry Red Army finding themselves at No. 10.

Bess: I am about 11 months in at the moment and I suppose time has flown. Unfortunately, 2014 has not been particularly kind to me thus far.

Yes, I've learnt a lot but perhaps most importantly to not get into debt in the first place, the banks are not really there to help and to not treat others with contempt. I have also discovered there is money to be made out of a few of my hobbies and interests as well as a realisation that there are plenty of others much worse off than I.

Lots and lots of regrets from the past that can never be altered and whilst I do not think I am ever going to be a "good" person, I can at least try to not make other's lives a misery from now on.
