Lots and lots of regrets from the past that can never be altered and whilst I do not think I am ever going to be a "good" person, I can at least try to not make other's lives a misery from now on.

Despite an awful and extremely unproductive day business wise (my own fault), I have managed to pay a little more towards the debt before it's spent on other things for the first time in a while and work out what is left owing. Whilst I do owe my business money, I have decided that the interest free "loan" is not a priority, the remaining card debt which interest is piling up again on is.

My son is meant to be starting to go to a different nursery in preparation for him attending full-time school the year after but with only a few weeks to go it has only just dawned on me that we've another new expense to find. However, despite the old SOA I put up on here showing plenty of cash spare each month, that appears to not be the case. Why does this all have to be so complicated?

    That's life, it's complicated!

I've been away a while and just caught up with you here - try not to let other people's comments on here hurt you, if your diary helps you keep track and serves a useful purpose then just ignore the rude people or trolls and take what you need from it.

I need to get back on track on the other thread too - want to join me?

I always think that budgets on paper are a good start but in reality they don't take into account the unexpected extras or the grocery bill rising cost of petrol etc - hence may be worth going back to basics and keep a spending diary for a month and u should be able to highlight any variances.

Hope ur ok weve escaped upto wales while the builders finally finish the damage from the burst pipe,a flying visit while I get a reception xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Things are very difficult at the moment.

I suppose I've been away too. As for the other thread, I ought to. :)

Thank you for the suggestion, I should indeed keep a spending diary especially as I pay cash for everything. Unfortunately, I buy myself a nice notebook and maybe treat myself to a propelling pencil (and I don't mean a £5.00 cheap one :o), put them into the glove box in the car, use it for a couple of days then forget once or twice and there it stays completely unused.

I'm not OK but glad to hear you're having your building work done and I hope you're having a nice holiday. :)

We're missing you over there Alex. And it'll save you money, so you know it makes sense!:)

P.S. I find it helps to be in control of that aspect of my life. Other parts are often not that easy.;)

Yes, me too for this! Now I buy everything on a card so there is a record of it in the bank account - I can go online to see the account at anytime and then we do the books at the end of each month. Our 'unaccounted cash' amount has plummeted and even cash withdrawals are pretty well tracked, since we pay cash now only for specific things - anything unusual and I'll keep the receipt pinned on the board until he end of the month.

maman: I will make an effort to make a reappearance. :)

gien: There is a reason I pay cash for everything ... because I cannot be trusted with a card. :o I find it is incredibly easy to buy things without thinking when paying on a card and yes, for me the only thing that stops me is it being rejected.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Monday 4th August, 2014.

    Dear Diary,

After a few months with no direction, I finally have a will to get myself back on track and as I am always told by numerous people there is no time like the present. It's not worth putting it off until tomorrow to only say the same thing again the next day, with that thought in mind I have decided to make a diary entry even though it's been a while and I've nothing much to say.

Unfortunately, I haven't a lot that is positive to report other than I have managed to get plenty of fresh air today. Working has been off the cards but the day of freedom has given me a little space to reassess my priorities. In other words I should try to get an early night and do something towards earning a few pennies tomorrow! ;) Money wise things aren't so great as I have let myself slip back into some old bad habits. However, business has been on an upwards trend.

Tomorrow I plan for more fresh air and to try and be a little more productive than as of late which will hopefully begin to improve the financial situation once more.

I apologise for such a disappointing re-entry as I am sure you were all expecting so very much more from yours truly.

    Summary:
    -£20.00 Petrol.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.
