And thank you, my dear. :)

'80's child here, 33 at the end of December. My parents had me rather late on in life (their SIXTH attempt to have a child)!

I've always wanted to visit Vegas, just because I think it'd be all very surreal. You don't seem far off debt free to me, going by your signature? I've tried ringing the awkward bank up again today with no joy, so not sure of the best way to proceed with them?

Not feeling that great either today but hopefully things will pick up, on the plus side I've got two trial lessons today... one of the new pupils is older than I. :)

  • Another one here who remembers the 9/11, I was out shopping with my mum and we walked past Arg0s we thought it was strange everyone was crowded around the tv's watching a film that resembled the towering inferno! We were there to see the second plane hit and then it hit every single one of us in the shop what had happened. We we were all there for at least half an hour in shock. I remember that day every year :( awful.

I hope your free trial lessons go well today ...I hope to be a 'mature' student of music one day ;) I always regret giving up the piano so will take it up again one day ......!

I got married on Vegas and that place is crazy. It is designed to remove as much cash from your pockets as possible - and it is very good at it! We didn't come home bankrupt as we reminded a bit detached and spent a lot of time people watching instead. It was easy to see how people lost fortunes there.

I honestly don't think anybody doesn't remember exactly where they were that day. :(

The 'mature' student went very well :D. You ought to take piano up again, what sort of standard were you when you gave it up?

  • A couple of days ago nurseries were scary places and now you want to go to las vegas:rotfl:

Are today's two music lesson trials on top of the two you got last week? That's good going. And a small grocery budget. how's the not drinking going?

bess: LOL, what I consider scary as a parent is entirely different to what I consider "scary" for myself! :)

Yes, the two trials were indeed on top of last weeks. The real work in finding pupils comes now as I knew these people already.

Cutting back on the drinking is going OK. However, I have let myself down today on that front. :( Mrs. K.'s family have once again been laying into me.

Tomorrow is a new day, don't let anything that has happened today sabotage your plans or detract from the ace progress you have made since you started posting here. :)

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Thursday 12th September, 2013.
    Day 11.

    Dear Diary,

First of all, I must confess I have been a very naughty boy this evening and found myself pouring myself a very generous measure of Scotch thrice, before I not only began to feel a little woozy but rather guilty too. Tonight was meant to be an alcohol free evening. However, a rather heated conversation with three members of Mrs. K.'s family left me drinking without even considering it. I am particularly annoyed about this when the rest of the day went fairly smoothly.

To start with today was almost blissful, I had little work to do and plenty of time to spend with our little boy, my wife was also home for lunch today as on Thursday she currently works a half day. She took care of our son whilst I had a new adult student who is very keen to learn the piano. In fact until this 5 o'clock this afternoon, my only worry was of the credit card company that I am struggling to strike up a deal with over my repayments; anybody would think they would be grateful I am contacting them after all this time wanting to pay but no, they just seem to be trying to make my life awkward. Still, the first half of my day was not so bad even if my mood was a little low this morning.

Anyway, as the saying goes all good things have to come to an end. In this case an abrupt end involving Mrs. K.'s parents and brother. To cut a long story short, they believe me to be a bad husband and not nearly good enough for my wife. Usually, when anything happens between my wife's family and I, she goes to stay with her brother for the night and I hear nothing from her until morning. However, tonight was a little different in that she stayed, still I was utterly humiliated and still I ashamedly reached straight for the bottle. However, apart from this saga, debt-busting has not been too bad, I've earned some pocket money and managed to pick up my new (to me) diesel Discovery which came with 1/2 tank of fuel already there.

    Summary:
    +£50.00 Music Teaching.
    -£1.80 Bakery.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

Thank you :) I will try to not let things get to me tomorrow. :)

Earlier on today I was in Matlock with my little boy and we saw another child his age. My mind began to wonder to how some children grow up to be great, others to be corporate drones, some to be homemakers, some eccentric, some to be monsters and everything in between. Yet, at that age it seems impossible to tell who will become what.

Yes, I have been feeling somewhat philosophical these last couple of days.
