The things I enjoy are being with my partner, cheerleading, and LARP. I can't do the latter two without money
That's my motivation
Chev's given you a great post there. Hope you can keep your spirits up

My work is one of my hobbies, in one way it's great but it does make me take things more personally than I should.
I think I've done rather well today despite being somewhat under the weather. (Healthy) Dinner is in the oven and won't have cost a fortune for once as well.Well that's better than 'it's cheap tat' isn't it :rotfl:
Indeed.
Mind, surely you wouldn't think I would sell cheap tat, gallygirl?

You asked me how I could feed 3 people for £40 week Alex. When I think of how much food I used to waste, it makes me feel embarrassed. I used to shop for what I thought we might fancy rather than what I had decided we would have. There are loads of threads on MSE with ladies and men who do a much better job than me. This is one of them with lots of ideas

and this is another;

I take my food money out in cash and keep in a separate purse because it is easy to forget the little shops that add up, and do a virtual shop on MySupermarket to find the cheaper food. We eat very well for that money - fish pie, chilli, spag bol and lasagne, paella, pork and chorizo, spanish chicken, pasta sauces, curry, stir fry etc. I dont feel I am making an effort to keep it down to that much. Good luck Alex0 -
Hi Ali,
When Mrs. K. and I are getting along better, we should perhaps decide to do a meal plan. I do know she won't like that idea though.
I'll take a look at the links. I have seen the "girlcalledJack" blog before and read a few interesting and rather upsetting articles. She managed to really annoy my mother when she appeared on the Benefits Debate on TV "what kind of name is Jack for a girl, anyway?" :rotfl:
ETA: Just having a look at the grocery challenge now, some of those recipes look delicious.
Wonder if I can get Mrs. K. baking our own bread, hahaha! Thank you, Ali.

I guess that being self employed must make life really difficult when motivation/depression is rearing it's ugly head. I was a wage slave throughout my working life and I inherited my family's strong work ethic, so when the alarm went off it was often a struggle to get going, but I just had to.
I am struggling a little at present and a PA (do retired ladies have PA's?), would be great, but mine would be tall slim, dark haired and male, why is it considered OK for us females to have such thoughts, but sexist when a male does it is jumped on? IMHO opinion treating someone differently because of gender is very wrong, but appreciating physical characteristics is just plain human:D
Great to see that Alex's army has rallied with great advice and kicks up the proverbial. Keep plodding Alex you will get there:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Maddie: Thank you.
Yes, being self employed is difficult when I'm especially demotivated. Today has been no exception but I did force myself to get on with things that actually needed doing rather than the things I wanted to do. I can report the cabinet is up for sale.
I'd rather not get into any debate on "sexism" as I have my own views on this which may be seen as rather "un-PC". I'm no chauvinist and do not care who does what in the workplace / home so long as they are competent but I do think some people take matters of "sexism" too far. Perhaps it's a case of not necessarily understanding what the feminist movement was all about in the first place.2018 totals:

No, I cant see Mrs K baking her own bread lol. And if Jack managed to wind your mother up she can't be all bad

She is a local girl, and much admired by me. She was christened Melissa, but felt that was too 'girlie' for her, as a gay girl.
I personally have changed so much with my food shopping that I feel I'm being ripped off by the supermarkets if I buy a dearer brand for the exact same thing as value brands, but I don't think you'll ever get Mrs K on board with that one either.0 -

Why not you? I bet little K would love helping, especially kneading, and shaping buns.
Pricewise, do you sell direct to customers? Or are you only trying to sell to shops who want to put their own markup and profit on top? If there is any mileage in this it is another reason to get that website done... I imagine you would need to be a bit careful - don't want to annoy the shops by selling direct to the public at wholesale prices - but you might find it worthwhile diversifying your lines, some lines available cheaper to shops and only on medium/large orders and some one offs direct to customers. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Which is all very well. but is the cabinet listed?A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Wound up to the point of shouting at the TV; mind she reckons Edwina Currie has "spirit" (though doesn't really like her either). :rotfl:
She's gay? Well, that's news to me (because she has a child). Yes, I'm "sheltered", much to my embarrassment a lot of the time.
I don't really buy much from supermarkets but you'll probably be surprised to know when we do, we often buy the cheaper "own brand" items, not necessarily the "value" / "basics" though. Mrs. K. isn't bothered either.

He would.
As for why not me; I'm a rather messy cook at the best of times, never mind with my son "helping". Still, it might be nice to have a go one day (may be better than doing work).
No, I don't sell direct to customers but your idea is something I was looking to explore. However, I get rather anxious every time I imagine things getting busier, probably down to me not being able to manage my time very well but I am concerned how I would cope.Which is all very well. but is the cabinet listed?
You need to read my posts more carefully, lady.
Yes, it's listed and I ought to thank you for giving me that much needed kick up the rear. 2018 totals:
