Am also liking a No-Spend Day and more selling - especially because I remember when you wouldn't have pulled yourself out of the "spend-mope" and would have ended up spending more

HBS: Thank you. I have actually managed another NSD (if I'm allowed to count nursery as a "bill" rather than a "spend"), admittedly if was more to do with me only just sitting down for the evening now.
Elf has found his way to my parents' house ... checking that my son behaves himself for his grandparents tomorrow. :rotfl: My parents are faaaar too thankful of that, even if I am a little disturbed mother quite likes the addition to her car! Yes, she found it today - not sure what example a Land Rover "OFFENDER" driving grandmother sets to a small boy. :eek:Well, just keep him away from the credit cards
That's easy, I don't have any credit cards anymore. Cash is King in this household, my dear.LannieDuck wrote: »Is Little K enjoying the elf?
I might do it with DD next year, but I thought this year she was just a bit young (2yo).
Little K loves it! He's very excited to find what the Elf has been up to or simply just to find the Elf.2018 totals:

Good news on the ebay sales and no spending Alex. SOunds like your son has one swell dad to do this sort of thing with him - those are the sort of things he will remember when he gets to be a dad himself.
Yes I agree about youth wasted on the young - but you are half way between - so just enjoy it before all the aches and pains set in!!
Thank you.
I just do what any parent would - try to keep the child happy ... well it beats him angry, annoyed or sad! Don't think I'm Dad of the Year material but it would be a honour if one day my son remembers the things we did together fondly.
:rotfl: I'll remember that; gosh I hope the aches and pains aren't for a long time.Granariesgirl wrote: »Cor strewth things move fast on here! Catching up after a manic week involving DCs' schools Xmas activities - this is just a breather before it all starts again tomorrow...
OK Alex, enough of the "I'm a bad / unworthy person" stuff!
Suggested forfeit for every time you say that on here: Stand on one leg & sing "Jingle Bells" - not the official version but the "Batman smells" one.
Because doing that is as stupid as saying you're a bad person (unless you have a list of terrible crimes you haven't shared)!
Has the elf unravelled the loo paper roll & wound it all around the house yet, leading to where he's hiding? I'd watch out for that one!
You can do it, Alex!
Virtual hugs.
Did the school Christmas activities go well?
No idea how you're going to police that forfeit? As for my crimes, well, if I told you ...
The Elf has done no such thing .... YET! :rotfl:I love this!!
I think if you tell yourself often enough that you are a bad person you end up beliving it. Can you turn it around - tell yourself you are good and worthy? Or get a list written down of stuff that you are good at and like about yourself e.g. musical skills, imagination with games for Mini K, determination, loyalty, resilience (tiem and again you get a right kicking on here and you're still standing!!), open mindedness (you were open enough to discover other nursery parents are well educated etc - despite your previous prejudices you gave them a chance - that is SUCH a good thing), practical skills (changing stuff on cars and fixing up furniture - impressive stuff), great writing style, sense of humour, cooking abilities.
There, I'm just some randomer off the internet and even I've come up with loads of positive stuff about you. :rotfl:
Write them down and keep them somewhere to refer to when you are having a dark moment. Mayme Mrs K would help you with it as well - I assume she likes something about you to go out with you, get hitched, make a baby and stay hitched - it's pretty hard to force someone to do that stuff!!
When you put it like that .... Seriously, I'm not really sure how to change my outlook, everyone from my wife to doctors have told me I need to become less negative.
Mrs. K. has already helped me somewhat; she said she missed me today. Only five more days until she's home.2018 totals:

Well, the story goes something like this: on the first of December, a parcel arrived from a Mr. S. Claus. Well, it turned out he'd sent one of his helpers to my house as he heard we have got a lively three year old boy who can be a bit of a handful at times. We all know that Father Christmas only delivers presents to good children of a Christmas Eve.
So far so good you say? A helper of Santa to monitor behaviour, what more could you want? That was exactly what I thought until I discovered that Santa's little helper wreaks absolute havoc as soon as the clock strikes nine, or perhaps ten if he's had a lie in.2018 totals:

Now about those crimes... dooooo tell, pretty please! :rotfl:The Elf has done no such thing .... YET! :rotfl:
Glad Mrs K is missing you - could it be because you're not such a terrible, worthless person & appalling father, after all? SURELY not!

Tuesday 10th December, 2013.
Day 101.
Dear Diary,
Yes today has been another NSD! This time, I don't think I can really take much credit as I've simply been too busy to even spend a penny.
Moving away from money, words fail me at the stupidity of some company receptionists. I have a common name and a surname that is spelt pretty much phonetically. However, still it was too much for Miss "do you spell that like the meerkat?" Bottle-Blonde. My answer was a sarcastic "yes" and her come back a sigh "but I don't know how to spell that". At this point I asked if this was meant to be funny but it appears this wasn't an attempt at a rather lame joke and she actually couldn't spell my horribly common given name. It was so absurd, I doubt I'll ever forget it. Mrs. K. and I did manage to have a laugh about it over the phone, though. Staying with the positive, she's bringing my favourite niece over for a music lesson tomorrow so both Master K. and I are looking forward to seeing her.
Aaaaand we're back onto what actually matters and my purpose for being on here: debt busting! Well, I've just got you all very optimistic for nothing as apart from the NSD there has been no items go up for sale, nor letters through the post regarding Full and Finals.
Summary:
-£0.00 NSD!

Policing... hmmm... well, lets just say that there's a load of people on here who can just shout (well, type) "Jingle Bells!" at you in the hope that you crack a smile & remember how daft that negative idea is... I think you should imagine yourself singing it while dressed in an elf outfit, too!
Now about those crimes... dooooo tell, pretty please! :rotfl:
Oh dear, I hope he doesn't read this & get some awful ideas...

Glad to hear you've raised a lot of money for the school, well done.
:rotfl: I have a rather active imagination and can't help but smile whilst reading that!
The crimes: oh, far too heinous for your delicate ears.
He may do ....

Hi Alex
I think a no spend day two weeks before Christmas is quite an achievement. Every NSD counts and is something to be proud of, especially at this time of year
Bet (who hasn't had many NSD's lately)Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.0 -
Thanks for the Meerkat, you have turned into him in my mind ... You do suit that velvet smoking jacket tho ... Now be kinder to Sergei !Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0

Happy to hear about all these NSDs - doesn't matter what the reason for them is, it still counts
I'm wondering if I'm going to clock up 5 NSDs in a row simply because I am away on a works trip and am therefore spending company money on meals and not mine? And also I can't go shopping haha.
It also says a lot that Mrs K. is missing you. Could you cook her something nice for when she comes home, or bake Christmas biscuits with Little K and let him decorate them? Messy, but fun
You've also made me crack up with the meerkat line. Reminds me of a dizzy lass a few years ago - I was trying to order something from a catalogue and getting a bit irritated as she was being a bit useless. When she asked my name I said "Kimberley, with an E" and my parcel came to the correct place but addressed to "Kimberley Withanee", and my surname was nowhere to be seen...
