Yes turn it around Alex - so you may not like or want to stay with the orchestra (but next week you might feel better about it).

Even if you don't stay - those - who you say are all full time musicians - choose you as being 'good enough' to join them - something to be pleased about.

  • Alex - are you still taking your meds? I think you could maybe do with some CBT to assist with changing your mindset. You're all doom and gloom! Haven't you ever noticed the happiest people are usually the positive ones? :)

Hope orchestra goes better next week - you wouldn't be there if you weren't skilled enough, and sadly you don't choose the repertoire ;)

(Also - £32.75 is cheap?? *faints*)

mum2one: Thank you. :) Yes, I have indeed dealt with a lot over this past month. Having reflected on the rehearsal, I realised I enjoyed it until the break but after I was far too tired to play well.

gallygirl: :rotfl: That made me smile! :) Thanks, wish my life really was that good!

Roland: Thank you. I should clarify, most of the others in the orchestra are full time instrumental teachers with some playing professionally also (esp. the wind players). Quite a few conservatoire grads too. Feel a bit better about it already. :)

HBS: Yes, still on the meds and you are not the only person to have said that, I have spoken to my doctor about having CBT also. No, it's a pity I do not get to choose the repertoire. :rotfl: ;)

This is nothing to do with my diary, nor my lifestyle (it was posted on a music teaching website that I read) but I remember this from my childhood:

"We have to live faster and faster to be "successful", and it's inevitable that the way we are living is affecting the way we are training our children to live. Adult life is being filled with ever more demanding employers, and more demanding bureaucracy, and we believe the lie that the busier we are the more successful we'll be and therefore the happier we'll become."

I just saw it and thought "wow, how true" and felt I had to share it. Almost put it on facebook but decided not to due to knowing a lot of people who are quite high up in the corporate arena and already think me a complete loser.

  • And the funny thing is - it's usually when we take a step back from all that and slow down the speed a notch that we become happier :)

Alex ? If they think you are a complete loser, Why are they still on your friends list ! Time for a friend list cull ! You dont need negative friends who suck any joy and happiness out of you .
Its just a bad day, Not a bad life ..
  • Gallygirl, I enjoyed your diary entry. And it is your life Alex:rotfl: you are doing that well.

Your mind is leading you down the dark path again, so what can you do today to look after yourself ? You will need to keep yourself balanced and well, while you are making such startling progress.

I ll give you a clue . It should not involve
    1.shopping
    2. A bottle of scotch
    3. Thinking

So come up with a plan? Is it chill time, excercise, plan a family treat that is within your budget, fixing your car, cleaning your pens,a couple of hours in bed. You have actually earned it. If today is pressured then when can you plan in ASAP , some calm time.

Well, after basically saying I don't have a busy life, at a quarter past nine I have only just managed to sit down for the evening!

    Anyhow, responses:

HBS: I agree with you to a certain extent. However, I find having nothing to do at all extremely depressing.

Mara: I'm not sure, most like that are ex-school friends, in some ways I guess I'm just clinging to the past. :(

bess: Well, I guess you could say I've been a good boy, only spent a little money on a coffee before picking son up from nursery, so no shopping, neither have I had a drink today. However, how on earth does one stop thinking?

As today has been busy tomorrow will be more relaxing with just two people coming round for music lessons and the rest of the day to myself. Oh and Friday is Mrs. K.'s half day at work :D ...

mum2one: :rotfl: .... It was actually dinner rather than lunch but we didn't have wine as we are on the no alcohol during the week challenge.

So exactly what part wasn't true? Your life really IS that good.

Stop being negative or else spank.gif

(though you being ex-public school boy you might enjoy that :D)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
