Thank you all for your kind responses.
In reply:
HPoirot: I understand.I actively avoided them today (parents) as I did not feel I had anything to say to them, even ignoring their phone calls twice. Mrs. K. told them I was busy, they didn't like that one bit.
debtfreewannabe321: Yes, they want to "help". If this site has made me realise something it is that I do not need to rely on hand-outs from my parents and that my wife and I can live within our means. Today, I wish to take their money even less than I did yesterday.
7roland8: I try my best, my son and I had a wonderful day together today.I don't remember any such days as a child because my parents were always working; in fact neither of them taught me to read, or to ride a bike, or to swim. However, I still wouldn't label them "inadequate".
LannieDuck: Thank you. There was once a time I blindly accepted anything from my parents.
Mara_uk7: I don't really know what the solution is to be honest and no, Mrs. K. also thought they said quite a few things to me over this past weekend that she deemed out of order.
On the subject of roast dinner, we had a "Monday roast" of free (we get given all sorts by our farmer neighbour, LOL) gammon joint, it was utterly delicious but took Mrs. K. and I AGES to prepare.
In_Debt_Bet: Fortunately, Little K. is at he age were all he wants is to play about and he's happy, that I can deal with. However, as he gets older and wishes for more out of life, I do not doubt I will lose favour.
wegle: Thank you for such an encouraging post.I really try my best to be a good Dad, as despite him sometimes being a little nightmare, there has also been times that had it not been for him, I would have been in a real bad way again. Selfish, I know.
gallygirl: :rotfl: I know what that is before I did even open it.Oh and, yes, I got a place in the large symphony orchestra, not sure which part I'll be playing until Wednesday (first rehearsal).
Awaiting an answer from another orchestra (same audition) as well.
Now you put it like that, I do feel a little guilty with regards to the BTLs.
kissjenn: Honestly, no it wouldn't at this moment in time.
So far as prep school goes, until very recently it was exactly what I wanted and expected for my son. However, I have been given a few reasons to discuss possible alternatives recently. Senior school is a bit of a no-brainer to me still, though.

I think I spied a little sentence in the middle of that saying that your audition was successful?
Congratulations!

Monday 30th September, 2013.
Day 29.
Dear Diary,
In many ways today has been a good day: quiet, no work to attend to giving me the opportunity to spend some quality time with my son and get some items on eBay to further reduce our debt. Other good news includes finding out I have an orchestral place, meaning Wednesday evenings are now reserved for rehearsals most of the year. Better get practising then, hadn't I?
Mrs. K. and I also managed to make a rather delicious "Monday" roast, though it ended up taking us two and a half hours solid. However, it was most certainly worth it, not to mention the meat and three out of five vegetables were completely free of charge from the farm next door. Tomorrow's menu consists of a practically free lunch of left over gammon and cheese toasties ... and to say people accuse me of being extravagant!
Summary:
+£25.00 Music Teaching.
-£4.20 Swimming.
-£20.00 Petrol for Triumph.
-£6.20 Lunch at cafe in town.
Yours Faithfully,
Alex.2018 totals:

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Thank you gallygirl, I'm actually a bit apprehensive about it now, not done any orchestral playing for almost 10 years!2018 totals:

Yes, well, you see ... I was merely being modest; in real life, I'm utterly brilliant and will probably be leader in three weeks time.2018 totals:

I escape for a weekend - get my poor car bumped into by a youngster in a BMW - allok cosmetic damage and being sorted;).
Massive congratulations on the orchestra you tried to slide that in quietly!
I'll give u a laugh, as DD and I live with parents (not ideal but its a home), - so for her main bday or xmas prezzie we get 1 main between us and then little ones, so for this bday main was netbook. Sunday lunch thinking of u as mum had roast beef dinner, DD and dad pushed the boat out and had beef and pork, me I had chicken and chips - so naughty for a Sunday!,
After that - gave her present off the dog - ipod docking station - desperatly trying to save her bday money for an ipod - then we did some party bags (cans of wine!!) for the ladies at cafe - then found a present - DD opened it - was an ipod - she screamed the place down, then shouted is it real........ I was as red as the cabbage!!!!
She only got it as had £80 back from car ins - swings and roundabouts .
You do a wonderful job with your son, its the innoncent things they need, the daft things, even if its rubbing a leaf design (paper and crayons - great autumn activity) - those things there remember. xxxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
