I regard myself as a creative person, including the use of colour, but I like the logic of a straightforward list, no matter how many sub-lists it has

I think mindmaps are something you either love or hate. Can't believe any tutor would insist on them. Once worked at a college where a mind-map was a required piece of homework. Made self very unpopular saying how daft that was. Some folk just don't get them!
Now I've reviewed mine a few times I get that if I continue to work at what I am doing until I am 60 I will have an ok income. If I continue to state pension age - 67 - I will have a reasonable income.
Another step will be to review our outgoings and see how much we truly need to live. Clearly should have done that at start of MFW journey but only ever did so half heartedly.
And to continue research on buy to let.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I think its a good thing to look at alternative means of presentation, fair dos ... but you have to go with what's right for you, no question.
And as for the MFW journey - we do what we can, when we can. You're still better off than you would have been, its all goodand it might get better

I was contracted out for the 28 years I was at my previous employer, so I doubt if I'll get the full rate of the new pension.
But by then (2026), the goalposts will probably have moved by then anyway, so I've based my calculations on the current basic pension, with the hope that'll it'll be slightly more, when the time comes
I haven't done a mindmap for years. They were very popular a few years back in our training sessions, but then they fell out of favour for some reasonEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Hi Watty,
De lurking as i've recently finished your diary! I have no clue about some of the 'tecchie' sounding horsey things you, LJ, floppy and KC talk about - but it sounds good and has been very interesting reading
To add my two penneth worth to the mind map convo, i'm firmly in the 'love' mind map camp

I must confess to having no idea what a mind map is....?!A mind map is a piece of paper with lots of information in circles all in pretty colours and squiggly lines :rotfl: You can see I have a handle on them

A cunning plan is partially formed actually. More as I work through how real it could become.
And an overpayment made :j
The initial mechanic for lorry sucked his teeth most gloomily and muttered darkly about repairs could cost up to £1000. I was on the verge of cutting my losses and selling it when Mr Watty took it to a funny little place at the back of an airfield that specialises in lorries and explained it wasn't a 'real' lorry in that I wasn't doing thousands and thousands of miles - but - it was a horsebox that would take me and pony to a show once or twice a month and for a lesson every now and again. And result. Bill £120.44 :j :j
Hence enough in the kitty to make an overpayment. Very clever Mr Watty, very lovely garage, very happy WattyMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
