Avoiding stress for a beloved partner is worth it sometimes
As greent says, bung what you can in the freezer (thats what I told my mum to do with the vegetarian stuff she got for me), and as you say, its Christmas, you'll do fine :A

Some of the perishable stuff I'll cook up and then freeze too. And we'll be saving on food in January
And you are right some things are more important. Mum had a lovely time and Mr Watty avoided stress. Its ChristmasMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Still thinking through ER plans, financial plans etc for new year and spent an hour reading on the Pensions Board. What a lot of serious folk over there who clearly have got their act together. My favourite post so far was one that began whittering about having £700,000 in cash !!!!
Like I really could retire if I had that :rotfl:
have I the nerve to post I've really screwed up and turned 50 with no serious pension plan in place ???? Just to see what they say???Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Yep, since the whole debacle with the FI sub-board, I've had a look over there too, and while I wish I'd had mse knowledge earlier than 2006, I'm still only just taking stuff on board about pensions, I've been in denial really
Let us know on here when you're going to post, and I'll hop over there to cheer you on, at least

How kind Karmacat
Gave up reading the pensions board. All far to serious. Decided to make a start on end of the month financials to see if I can rustle up enough to overpay to under the 50K mark in time for 2015. Sadly Christmas has addled brain and have no idea of how to log into own bank account on line and am now locked out and must wait for the post to send details.....argggghhhMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The idea of posting a new thread on the pensions board scares me - they don't seem that friendly......
Although if you do post on there I'll join KC in cheering you along

I think I need help with the basics :rotfl: I can't even access my online bank accounts now. Am a lost cause clearly
Have gained some ideas re financial independence from reading over there. Will let you all know when I post.
Meantime I still think - for me - that the best plan is to continue clearing this mortgage.
Other news handsome baby has had to have serious physio after saddle traumas and is now being lightly lunged. Lunge programme started today. I wasted half an hour looking for lunge cavesson but I only had on Christmas Eve. This has led me to think about the amount of time I waste looking for stuff just because I am (a) so untidy and (b) simply have too much stuff.
So for next year I need to get back on board with the decluttering that I started last year and abandoned. I think a count will help (I know its not yet January but we are nearly there so starting today). Began in feed room and threw out empty containiners 1/365 and some wood bits moved to Mr Watty's barn 2/365. This was a 'move' but counts as a declutter as Mr Watty's barn is stuffed to the rafters but is Mr Watty's area and he can keep what he likes in thereMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I like your reasoning around Mr Watty's barn!
And as for locking out of online bank accounts ... it happens, I'm sure I did it earlier this year myself, trying to bring a dormant one back to life to start up matched betting again.
I'd love to count declutters, but I try to sell most of it, to be honest ... some of my things are really one-offs, though, I'm seriously considering joining abe books as a seller, if I can.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
AM going to join you on the counting declutter items, Watty - and am also going to start from today, as I have the inspiration to do it todayI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
