Haven't got lorry yet as is having some work done. Is small and black with an out line of a silver jumping horse decoration on side and should carry 2 horses but I haven't seen the weight certificate yet so wouldn't be surprised if it is really 2 ponies or 1 horse.
Handsome baby will be fine in it.
Talking of most handsome baby - camp at the weekend was fantastic. Loved loved loved it. 2 sessions riding on Sunday, 2 lectures, lunch and dinner, session riding on Monday lunch and home. First time I have ridden with others in a school. Most Handsome was a tad over excited at having others around and rushed about trying to keep up with everyone but really he was beautifully behaved. Thrilled with how beautifully behaved he was from loading straight away, to settling in and to relaxing in the lessons.
Loved it so much going to a ladies rally in November.
Now really need to get finances sorted today. Starting with a chat with Mr Watty on our emergency fund and how much we really need and then check on bank accounts and any financial shuffle that can be done.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Yeah one horse should be fine. Mines a 3.5T with a 1200kg payload and whilst my friend is desperate to come out with me, I don't think I'll be able to take 2x 16'1 HH's? (550 kg each, one driver?) maybe could manage if we took tack etc on its own?
    When do you get it?
Is that an adult camp you went to? Ladies rally? I've never seen anything like that?! Enlighten me!

Own MFW progress now hindered very much by shopping today. I have bought a horsebox. That's a whole new vehicle to tax and mot. The money from it will come from my 'emergency fund' which I built up in case I could not work. Emergency Fund now seriously depleted and I will need to rebuild that.
I know I've mentioned wanting transport for Handsome Baby but this was a bit of a whim prompted by a £230 hire charge to hire a lorry for this weekends camp. I realised my EF is not paying that in interest!
Am having some work done on lorry so it wont be ready for a couple of weeks.

Wow! That's some purchase! (although still not as bad as GG's accidental house purchase! ;):rotfl:)

    Hopefully get it next week.
re camp: Think pony club for adults really. It was brilliant! Alchemilla set me off by telling me that riding clubs do 'camps' when I was admiring the fun her daughter had at pony club. So, I looked around, found she was right, but we had missed all the week camps as they happen in the summer. (I am so going to one next year). Then I found a weekend one at the place I had the lunge lessons earlier this year. The ladies rally is just the same - so a morning lesson, a lecture, lunch, an afternoon lesson. I'm clearly doing the pony club thing way too late in life :rotfl: It was just like pony club with everyone getting rosettes as well for something. (Baby and I got most improved which was lovely as the instructor knew that less than a year ago I was going to give up - and as she said - now look at us!!)
Try local riding clubs and see if they do anything like that if it appeals???

Am aiming for a house purchase as a buy to let but not sure we will manage it. Loved the idea that GG could buy one by accident. Only GG could :)

Lorry should be ready early next week.

Discussed amount needed for emergency fund with Mr Watty who came up with an interesting concept. He pointed out that if I had a business contingency plan we would need less of an emergency fund. Still not sure about size of fund or if I agree with him about having 'less' - but - the business contingency plan is a fabulous idea.
So I am now working on a manual that sets out exactly what I do so that anyone can pick it up and do the job. And am including where 'someone' could get help of technical nature and admin nature if I were not able to work with the idea being someone could use the plan to keep my business going if I were sick in any way. Obviously our income would be 'reduced' but I would still have one and the business should survive.
Think he was brilliant to think of this. Can't help wonder why same never occurred to me!

Amazing how guilty I feel about spending money on lorry.
Have just spent last hour and a half with pen and paper working out emergency funds. I see Mr Watty's point but I am not happy with diving into the cash ISA which is my emergency fund.
So, worked out a tight budget and if I take £5000 from the emergency fund and if I use my credit card carefully and if I have calculated my anticipated income over next few months plus the money I shuffled from finishing business end of year accounts then I can pay for lorry.
I realise there are a few "ifs" there :rotfl:
Now I have worked out budget, done the sums, reassured self I think I can go to bed. After all it is nearly one in the morning.
Did I mention sleep very messed up :rotfl: Now that has nothing to do with horses or lorries :)
