You've done so well with your overpayments.
These diaries seem to become so much more than just money - they truly chart a journeyEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Not been feeling terrific ... but have been to the World Equestrian Games in Caen. Fabulous experience
And just checked mortgage on line to see that it has fallen below the £60,000 milestone. Currently standing at £59947.36
Need to have shower and go to bed. Travelling from Caen by train very tiring and feel so grubby but will be back tomorrow to catch up with diaries, own included!
How fantastic! I watched what they showed on telly. Course looked very tiring and so long.0 -
A year ago today I started this diary. So today 2 things were important: to make an overpayment and to take baby out for a hack. This diary started out just to work on paying off the mortgage - which is happening - and also began a bit of a journey with recovering my confidence riding.
The mortgage moved to the SVR rate of 4% yesterday and so I can make unlimited overpayments, so £7000 overpaid today :j
And I took baby out with pal from down the road. Only for 30 mins. Baby was lively but it was a nice ride and I didn't worry, just realised it wasn't surprising as I've not spent as much time with him as I would have liked to over the last few weeks.
And so, this past year has been a great success. I'm happy riding, and am looking forward to doing more over the next year and also our mortgage has fallen substantially. :j
You are doing amazing on your overpayments - cant wait to start mine next year.
Must be frustrating with your back not being to crack on with baby horse.0 -
Well done Watty!
What are your goals for the next year?0 -
Well done on your achievements, Watty - not just with the mortgage but the fantastic progress you and baby have made together
xx

Yes they do. I love reading the diaries for just that reason. Along the way I've started decluttering, built friendships and got clearer about what I would like my life to look like. And to think I only started wanting a spot of motivation to keep me going on the overpayments!Alchemilla wrote: »Well done Watty!

Now that is a great question Alchemilla. I'm thinking that over. Continuing the mortgage lowering is one obviously, continuing to build my confidence riding is another but I'm wondering if I should have some tangible goals???? I've been thinking that over.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
No progress yet on goals. Desk very messy. So short term is to catch up on work. It must be bad, I have a clean house and have done all the ironing :rotfl:
have banana bread made and 8 portions of rice pudding made and frozen.
Guess its obvious I am avoiding work today!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I love what you've said here and echo that completely !
What else can I say but wish you and all on here all the very best on realising our goals.

Thanks Bo. And I wish you the same too - look forward to watching your progress
Own MFW progress now hindered very much by shopping today. I have bought a horsebox. That's a whole new vehicle to tax and mot. The money from it will come from my 'emergency fund' which I built up in case I could not work. Emergency Fund now seriously depleted and I will need to rebuild that.
I know I've mentioned wanting transport for Handsome Baby but this was a bit of a whim prompted by a £230 hire charge to hire a lorry for this weekends camp. I realised my EF is not paying that in interest!
Am having some work done on lorry so it wont be ready for a couple of weeks.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
