I'm on board with Al's plan, she's a diabolical genius.

No they WANT it to be the highest laurel hedge in the world despite the fact I hate it, I have no view of the fields or the outside world. They LOVE it. Idiots.

I laughed when I read that..... Fabulous!! Am very tempted to get him to do this and play that card next time he is here. I could say I told him to trim a field hedge and he misunderstood. :rotfl: Alchemilla you are a genius!

Gardener decided that as a first cull we should cut it back by about a foot but not touch the height as they will see that. Need to discuss height again as they have not kept it at height agreed after I paid for it to be cut back last year.

Feeling old, another funeral to go to. Regretted sending cheap black dress back now so went shopping yesterday evening for funeral dress. Found very nice one for £29 and have dropped it off at ultra cheap tailors to have puffy cap sleeves removed. At last the stress of finding something suitable for funerals is resolved. I have outfits suitable for posh weddings and christenings and now its funerals. Did I suddenly age????

Oh no I remember the hedge saga of 2013, not again! Don't let them get away with you paying for hteir garden maintenance again.

Sorry to hear about the funeral. x

Sat in the sun and read the pile of work related magazines that had built up in the corner then threw all away. Declutter (109) and nice time in sun. Coffee and gossip with friend then riding lesson this afternoon. Lovely day. So pleased with self in riding lesson. We did really well (working on counter canter to help Baby's balance).
Not a lot of work done but was struggling with the motivation. Quick BBQ dinner of burgers and salad with Mr Watty then yoga class.
Really will have to work tomorrow :)

Handsome baby just had another show jumping training session. Very impressed with how instructor is teaching him. Today at the start she just sat there with loose reins and he took her in and over. Her theory is he needs to learn to jump to help me out. And it looks like it is working :)
Not so MFW thinking of buying a couple more jumps to use as I can only make 3 up at the moment.

Oooh that sounds like fun shopping. We have a similar issue and used to do a dog bone shape with a jump in the middle then using the wings (you can get circular wings that can have multiple jumps and different angles) put 2 other jumps off the sides at angles.

    >-< a bit like that if you can imagine it? So you can circle around them all and it uses 6 jump stands instead of 10.

I'd reccomend using some rustic poles and coloured fillers (at the sides until you get big enough!) as well, have you seen the covers that you stick over hay bales that act as fillers?

Maybe dress the fences with some of your neighbours hedge?

Thanks for the ideas Floppy. No shopping done yet! Not much MFW news but few updates. After months the wall knocked down by a lorry has finally been repaired. Paid for by the solar farm down the road whose lorry it was so that was great. All rubble removed (110) and bricks from hay barn used up (111) and have tidied hay barn. Decluttered minor bits in house, wont list all but now up to 119, dropped dress that was waiting to be shortened off to tailors (120) when collected the dress for funeral.
Felt really odd when shopping for dress as I really didn't want to spend money! How times change! Really pleased with how it looked after alterations. When finally mortgage free think this little tailor shop might be a fantastic find for renovating clothes rather than buying new. (What has happened to me :rotfl:) Have been watching "This Old Thing" on C4. Think vintage, charity finds and alterations might be the new me in years to come :)
Spent weekend weeding garden, got touch of sunburn, then Sunday with friend at big show where her horse came reserve show champion for foreign breeds. Interesting experience as she is too scared to ride her horse so has someone else do so. Came home feeling very proud of myself and handsome baby for what we are achieving rather than having given up. We are just playing about at local shows and yes, I do need someone 'around' when I ride but I am doing it and having fun doing so. Gave handsome baby a big hug and FoggyFell one too. Wondered briefly if FoggyFell would like to come out of 'retirement' but apparently he feels no, he would not :)
Yesterday was family funeral. Trying day. Glad over and now back to a normal week.

Hope the funeral went as well as possible. These days it seems the only time the extended family comes together, with all the cousins etc is a funeral :(

You mentioned 'This Old Thing' - I really like that show. I like how they take a dress from 1976 and make it look like something new and funky. But if I tried it, I'd probably look like I was wearing a 40 year old dress !

Hope you enjoyed your ride (lovely afternoon for it) and your neck is sorted out
