He's a native isn't he? No need to plait if so!

Sadly he is only part native and part show hunter so I get to plait!

No - natives are shown untrimmed, completely untrimmed, full mane, full tail, feathers the lot. A quick bath and plenty of condition to comb out mane and tail and job done. You can tidy up the mane a little but that's all. At the last native class I saw the judge, a very elderly lady who probably last rode to hounds in 1915 sternly ticked off all the entrants but the highland owner placed first for having trimmed their ponies and told them how very unsatisfactory it was as natives are glorious in their original state just cleaned up for the show ring. She said this whilst waving her walking stick. She was darling, straight out of a 1950s pony book. I couldn't help but giggle
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Just reading about the show - it must be all very nerve-wracking, but the more you do, the more you (both) will get more comfortable.

Good about the loading too. I often see horse boxes out and about, but it never crosses my mind how difficult it might have been to persuade the horse to go in!

Cor blimey that judge does sound a little bit out of date! I had a part-bred arab and was gutted when I realised I had to pull and show the part-bred way as opposed to the long and lazy way!

Have you put your rosettes up on display?!

Thinking about an inexpensive way to do this. Will either put the string up between the kitchen cupboards on which Christmas cards usually hang and put there or remove an old framed memorial from office wall and put something there to prop them on.

Am avoiding work. Displacement activities include washing and ironing (things must be bad, I am up to date on ironing) and decluttering a cupboard, removed one piece of rubbish (99) tidied rest away releasing a couple of items for ebay and using an old pretty saucer as a soap dish in kitchen throwing away the chipped mug that was holding soap (100). Then went to local village with 6 different textile items and the riding boots beyond repair for recycling (107). Recycling centre closed so bought them home but did throw in own recycling bin. Not sure if local council recycles fabrics and boots but the huge bins are now gone which teashop tells me is in response to the improved recycling efforts of local council.
Returned a pair of earrings Mr Watty bought me to shop - he bought them for my birthday over 3 months ago and finally asked me why I didn't wear them, when I told him they were too big he laughed and said why hadn't I taken them back?? Bless him. I didn't want to hurt his feelings that's why. We both know the girl in the shop and she was so sweet. Changed them for a pair of earrings I love. Am counting in declutter tally as original ones would never have been worn (108).
Now really really must do some work.

Good luck with the work Watty!

Things must be bad indeed if you're ironing instead! :rotfl:
