He suggested starting over so I asked if he could fit the aerial in the loft space and he said no because it would not pick up a good signal. So next week an aerial is to be installed on the house, the wire fed around the building to come in where old one comes in and be connected up and hey presto it will work. I am a tad sceptical but I'm going to try it. Also suits longer term plans to get the aerial off the stable room (they need re-roofing) and on to the house anyway. Very long term plan that is which will be revealed ......Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Nice calm weekend. Ex is away. I have cleaned downstairs at the cottage as am staying there. It looks a different house! Dinner with friends for Easter (sad as is a very good friend who is now moving to the other end of country) and point to point today. Seems a while since I've been to a point to point. Last one was my brief foray into syndicate ownership of a racehorse (who never actually finished a race and the syndicate gave up!). At that one I still liked the ex. Odd sort of day with the memories of that time. Anyway it was a nice if expensive day (£15 to get in and £17.50 on 3 x burgers - i bought for friends). The only good part of the day was I ended up on the betting. All stakes returned and a profit of £2.50 made. Yay!

Oooh, I had very similar experience Watty - I get that they like to know it's you, but it's very frustrating when you can't move your own money as you wish!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Still waiting for ex to send his conveyancing solicitor details over so we can get on with things.
In anticipation of sorting out matters I spent Sunday viewing a Fell Pony. Most handsome is panicking when on his own so I can not really leave him and go out with Charming Cob for more that about 25 to 40 mins which severely limits fun riding. Fell Pony was lovely. Not sure whether to buy a very inexperienced young pony or to follow up with a rescue who this morning offered me a section A Welsh Pony who is 12 and suitable for a companion. My only experience of a Welsh Section A was not great. She lived here briefly, terrified the entire class of her young rider, frequently dumped the young rider to the point she refused to even come and see her, could not be caught at all (I got her in by bring the horses I had into stable and leaving her door open with a bowl of food on the floor then sat in the house watching a camera set up to find out when she went into the stable and ran up there and shut the door. Finally rehomed her with a 5 year old boy who adored her and stood in the field shouting her name and swinging her headcollar and she ambled up to him. Beyond me but certainly put me off Welsh Section As (For the non horsey reader they are attitude ridden little ponies).
The Fell Pony is an expensive nanny for the neurotic Most Handsome ....not sure what to do. Part of me likes the idea of a rescue as is going to always belong to the rescue but then part of me rather liked the Fell Pony. Decisions Decisions.
And no Alchemilla before you suggest it both is not an option
The dilemma really is the Fell is lovely (a native breed for the non horsey) but I am so short of time I'm not sure I could educate him enough in the ways of the world.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

If the rescue pony is always going to belong to the rescue, could you offer to take her for a trial period (you could always word it as to see how MH gets on with him/her?). Then you could assess the character of this one before making a commitment. I appreciate that Fell pony is unlikely to still be available if you say no now, but it sounds like he might not be the right choice at the moment, with all else you've got going on. I can totally see the appeal of Fell pony though!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
