Back home and straight into a very busy time with lots of work stuff planned so am not in office or near compute hence not posting :)
I did however have a fabulous time away, and, interestingly despite shopping with and without friends I found that my whole attitude has undergone a huge shift. There was nothing I wanted to bring into the house! The decluttering and money saving has created a huge change in me.

Went to an outlet centre at the weekend...................total purchase £3 for a cream cup and saucer :D:D You would have thought I had bought the crown jewels, woman on the till looked at me like I had gone raving bonkers............been searching for just the right one for weeks :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am not actually buying anything this Christmas :D:D

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Where does the time fly to?
Had a lovely weekend away but came back to a week that was very full on with meetings plus Mr Watty's dad returned home from care centre. Thank goodness Mr Watty has taken a couple of weeks off work to help the transition. We could not manage otherwise and I'm very concerned about what will happen when he had to go back to work. We do have a care package in place but it just doesn't seem to run smoothly. Last night for example the carers phoned to say they had run out of incontinence pads. That resulted in me ringing late night pharmacies to see what was in stock and where we could go at 9.30 pm to get something that "would do". This morning there was then a call to the health visitor to complain who blamed a "computer failure". Well there has been a fair few of those in the last 2 weeks. Seriously concerned about how we will cope in the long term. And financially we are just bailing out everything at the moment :(
Finally I have a dreadful cold - and have just binned an opera ticket for this evening as I feel so awful and would rather lie on the sofa and have an early night.
Off to read the posts. I absolutely know things are not that bad really, there are people on here really struggling so I shouldn't really whinge but heck, its my diary and it is where I am at today!

Sending you hugs, watty. The situation with your dh's dad is exhausting. I know what you mean about care packages not working. Have you planned for the next step yet so that you do not have to rush it when it comes?

  • Oh Watty sending huge hugs to you. We went through something very similar earlier this year with my grandad, very sad and draining for all involved. Always here with a virtual ear and cuppa for you xx

Hope you are feeling better today x

I read back to see what you'd written - saw about shaving off two hotel nights and two meals, thats great! I'm glad it worked.

I'm so sorry to hear this. You know what we're going through with my mum, of course, and something has been striking me recently, about where she lives - there's a lot of old people, and I mean, a *lot*. So all the services are set up for her situation, and it all seems very smooth, once the GP got hold of the correct information (that was a trial, actually). Macmillan, district nurse, pharmacist, pads, everything seems to be working well. We haven't had to have care visits at home yet, like we did with my dad, and I don't know whether they're sufficient these days, in that locality, but I have a feeling we're finding out soon. We're keeping on top of it. And thats the other thing - there's three of us taking turns.
Finally I have a dreadful cold - and have just binned an opera ticket for this evening as I feel so awful and would rather lie on the sofa and have an early night.

Absolutely! Couldn't agree more! Though I'm so sorry you had to bin the opera ticket :( but pushing can make things last a longer in the end. Hope you feel a bit better soon.

So sorry things are tough, it's such a responsibility. Have a dodgy hug :grouphug: xx
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thanks all. Love the virtual support.
Unfortunately Mr Watty dad back in hospital as of late last night as had a fall getting onto stair lift and carer's are not allowed to lift. Paramedic thought dad a bit confused likely because of urine infection and the antibiotics not being strong enough but this all resulted in a trip to A&E. Mr Watty now gone to try and 'spring him from the joint' as we know from bitter experience that the longer he stays there the worse things tend to get as mental health team and physical health team don't seem to talk.
And in the midst of this Mr Watty's mum (who doesn't live with dad) wants a tv in her bedroom and insists Mr Watty goes to put the socket in not seeming to realise he has more than enough to do.
Argh!! Tis lucky she is not my mum as I think I would say more than I should! Am finding it very hard to keep quiet :A
