Nice day, took Most Handsome out for a walk and then worked in arena alongside the chap who trains here twice a week. I let him use the school and he offered to help me get Most Handsome used to working with other horses. So today, we just did a little walk and trot with another horse behind him and alongside. Next week we will do a little more and gradually he thinks in about 4 or 5 weeks we will build up to working Most Handsome in with other horses so neither of us get stressed about it while out. Very happy. He also was chatting away while we rode and gave me lots of showing tips, as he shows at lots of really big events. Was a lovely masterclass in showing, Most Handsome remained very calm and relaxed and so did I.
    All in all great fun.

Early in the month and it is beginning to look as if I might be able to take a bonus for last months work. That will mean a little in the pot towards goals. Been a while since I could do this so pleased.
Also need to think about saving money, so was going away this weekend with friends. Still going but instead of going this afternoon for dinner and overnight I will get up early tomorrow morning. This will save me the cost of dinner, one night hotel and parking and if I get up early enough I can get there just after breakfast and still have fun, maybe even get there for breakfast! Also rather than stay Sunday night I think I will alter hotel so I check out Sunday, dump bags in car and spend Sunday with friends, go out to dinner Sunday and drive back late rather than walking back to hotel to sleep and drive home after breakfast. I will miss one dinner and one breakfast and as not everyone is there for those that will be fine :) I will have as much fun but have a significant saving having shaved off two nights hotel room, and parking costs.

  • I like the adjusted plans - I always feel bad when logistics mean I have to pay for a hotel somewhere just to sleep, seems like such a waste.

Still sounds like a nice weekend with friends even with the savings, hope you have loads of fun. :)
  • Great news about being able to take some bonus money Watty. Amended plans sound emminently sensible whilst at the same time saving money - win win. I hope you have a wonderful time x

Back home and straight into a very busy time with lots of work stuff planned so am not in office or near compute hence not posting :)
I did however have a fabulous time away, and, interestingly despite shopping with and without friends I found that my whole attitude has undergone a huge shift. There was nothing I wanted to bring into the house! The decluttering and money saving has created a huge change in me.

  • Yes, once you start to get rid of clutter you really don't want any more! I am the same. Almost dreading getting Christmas gifts!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
