Well done. Better to have them well thought out.

The big stuff seems to be done in hacking down the mortgage. I've been very mindful for the last few months of my frivolous spending and so have some for the next overpayment. And now I am thinking about where else to turn my attention. Its all very well just overpaying when I make a little more money working but I am thinking there is more I should be doing.

I have resisted but I think a budget is the next step. Just so I have a clearer idea of where our money really goes.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Have just opened post to find that my bank charges were £26 in the last year all because I was not managing my money properly:(

The good part - zero charges since starting diary :T

Just had to refund 17.65 to someone for an ebay purchase. They claimed the electric stapler I sold second hand did not work. It worked fine when it left here but they tell me it does not work on arrival. Argh!! Refunded. Feel rather *had* on that one.

They make me mad. I had one claim a coat was not the advertised size and the label had been cut out. Fortunately one of the listing pics clearly showed the correct size label so she went away.

That is outrageous! Thank goodness you had the picture. I gave the chap a complete refund. Makes me mad but there it is.:(

Thanks Habibiboo. Nice to see you!

Great weekend! Baby and I did our first dressage competiton. It was in fact his first time out ever and he was a complete star. He loaded perfectly, was a little stressed and tense when we got to the venue but he walked round very nicely with me and calmed down. Then tacked him up and my lovely lovely instructor came along and rode him in the first class. They actually got placed fifth:T

The real reason she rode him was not the placing which was a charming bonus but to give him confidence and also me confidence that it would all be ok. And her tactic worked because I rode him in a test and was so delighted that we had done it that I was beaming from ear to ear and I nearly forgot to salute the judge at the end of the test.

Cant help but reflect what a long way we've come in just a short space of time.

Quite an expensive day out in that I bought lovely instructor flowers and chocolates for being so kind and giving up her entire saturday morning to help me, I bought the friend who got up at 6.00 am to drive us a bottle of wine and then an indian that evening as a thank you. But the plan was this year, scrimp to overpay but also spend on the horses so that my confidence grows - and - a day like yesterday really really helped. Baby and I actually did a show. Yay!! Go me!!

Have spent today cleaning up as show venue was really muddy. And have done serious washing and competition jods have come up clean as as a saddle cloth I found in the barn. Really old, and had rust stains on the white but, unusually for me, had been put away with number discs in place so I had competition numbers on show. I used it yesterday, and, after a serious soak and clean up it looks like new. So we are set for next time. And, yes, there really will be a next time. Am looking forward to it already :)

Wow Watty, sounds amazing, your very first show! Well done, go you indeed! Sounds good to plan for next time, your confidence will just keep growing from here! :T
Well done with the quick and effective laundry - I struggle enough with the gunge the dogs bring in from the garden, constantly mopping and washing their paws but when I launder their bed covers it looks like I haven't bothered. Mind you, I'm not entirely convinced by soap nuts! Do you have a secret anti-mud laundry ingredient you're willing to share? :o *pauses hoping not to hear the magic words washboard and elbow grease*!
    Have a great week!

The thought of you getting on a horse is enough to make me go :T, let alone actually doing something once you're up there :o.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
