    Neighbour sounds a right knob.
I do believe if hedges intrude on your garden you are entitled to cut them so long as you give him the cuttings.
But is it height thats the problem.
    * there are ways to surreptitiously kill trees over a period of time, not something i would recommend, obviously....

A most apt description of neighbour. I call them Margo and Jerry after the couple in the good life - only these two are not as much fun as Margo and Jerry!
Indeed is the height that is the problem. I've long since cut the bits in my garden back.

Am wondering what those ways to kill trees might be now. All suggestions welcomed. Purely out of academic interest of course.....
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

If I was to do such a dreadful thing I'd start at one end and then watch as the mystery disease spread down the row. If I was to do such a dreadful thing

Have neglected diary. Lots happened! The intruders came back but amazingly the German Shepherd and I scared them off. I heard a noise went out, saw a car on the back drive, engaged brain and yelled like a woman demented for the dog to come back to me whilst dialling 999. The car reversed and went. Phew.

Police came and took seriously enough. And have been back since, though I do suspect follow up visits are more PR and to make me feel better. Hey ho. New padlock and chain purchased for back gate - both reported to be able to withstand bolt croppers. Total spend £80.

    Cable for CCTV purchased. £48.

Etching machine bought to mark stuff in barn £10
    UV Pen bought £4.95

Alarm for barn to be bought tomorrow - around the £200 mark.

Man to trim laurels £150. Am particuarly annoyed about this one as all I've done is pay to trim them back to where they were last summer - that is - I've paid for the neighbours maintence. I feel totally conned. They refused to "cut back" as requested. Gallygirl's mysterious disease may appear in our area I fear...........

So much for frugal January! Hey ho.

Decluttering all came to a halt with all the police visits.

On the brighter side we have been eating out of freezer and cupboard so food spend minimal.

And pony has been across the motorway bridge without panic from either pony or rider :T Thanks to lovely neighbour who came with us. We now have more possibilities for rides in area:)

I don't think I'm brave re the lowlife I think I just got lucky. Mr Watty installing alarm on barn today. Think just about everyone locally must know we have it and my head hurts from the noise it makes every time there is a false start:rotfl:

Papers from accountant arrived today. Too tired to read them properly or total up finances but brief glance through suggests I do have enough to pay tax at end of Jan :T
