Steady day with lots more decluttering done. Someone wants another few pics of saddle on ebay so that might sell (fingers crossed). Finally found a gorgeous glove that has been missing for 9 months ....unfortunately I had given up looking for it and thrown the other one away. Hurrumph. Still that is why I am embarking on this major declutter project.......Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Hi Watty
I realise I could never be a minimalist. I have turned attention to office cupboard and found 21 highlighters and enough pens to last till the turn of the century! Plus 12 rolls of sellotape. I dare not list the other stuff - too embarrassing :rotfl:[/QUOTE]
So glad I not the only hoarder on here

So far the only good thing I can say about being back at my desk working today is I love the sense of space I have following major declutter of desk.
Why oh why does it rain for days of the Christmas holiday period and yet the sun comes out the first working day?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

They just bid for them! Surprises me to be honest! But I've sold 3 saddles on ebay so far and bought 1. The one I bought was a synthetic and the saddler told me exactly what make (it was an old style no longer made today) and size to get. So I searched for just that. When it arrived he came back and altered it slightly and voila done! I wanted a cheap saddle so we could see if the 'retired companion' could actually be ridden as when I was given him I was told not, but, actually what we found was that he adores pottering around the lanes, just isn't up for anything he considers 'real work'. And this one has worked perfectly so it was ok.
Of the 3 I've sold - one buyer had the identical brand and size jumping saddle and wanted a dressage saddle and as it was identical she assumed it would fit and it did. She came to look at it first.
Another was a jumping saddle and a local chap and his friend came to look bringing their GP saddle with them and after looking for an age they agreed it would probably fit - bought it after the auction had closed as no one bid for it - and texted me afterwards saying the saddler came and said it was a great fit and he was delighted.
Both the jumping saddle and the dressage saddle were a very good make and quite well known and given the way they were bought not really a gamble.
The third saddle I sold was a complete mystery to me. It was very old, I had bought it second hand from a friend after getting a saddler to say it fitted my baby. He had it till he grew out of it then I popped it on ebay. It was very old, I had a saddler tell me the make and size and someone bought it. How they would know it fitted was a mystery.
Of the saddle I am selling at the moment I have no idea how anyone will know it would fit as it belonged to my 30 ish pony and he had had it for ever. After he died, the saddle sat under the stairs for a couple of years other than a brief spell on a friends section A till she could afford something for her toddler. It is very well made, but a make no-one has ever heard of as it is so old. Its English, a small pony saddle. And to be honest I wouldnt buy it as there would be no idea if it would fit. I've put measurements but that is no guide whatsoever. I'd be amazed if it sold - but - I've had a few enquiries and sent other pics so who knows. I really want to keep it for sentimental reasons - but - it will only sit in the loft - so I thought I would pop it on ebay and see what happens.
There probably a longer answer than you were expecting :rotfl: I'd only buy a saddle on ebay if I were sure one would fit and then I'd buy it locally so I could see it first and make sure it was ok - but - it seems folk do buy them!
For the non horsey folk reading - you've probably glazed over by now :rotfl::rotfl:but if you havent getting a saddle to fit is like buying shoes only more complicated !!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Take photos and put it on! Its free listing at the mo so why not give it a go? Give it a polish, take the pics with the sun out and see what happens. Pick a sensible starting price so you don't see it sell for 99 pence! Even if it is ancient if you put it on at £55 or even £75 might be worth a try???
I found two ancient ones in a barn here when we moved in and someone who worked for me sold them at a local saddlery for £50 each and pocketed the cash:eek: saying she had done me a favour getting rid of them. Unsurprisingly she does not work for me anymore :rotfl:Ancient does not mean they don't sell!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Just tallied up the sums from last month. After paying credit card etc and the bills I have to pay from what I have made last month there is some money left over for the overpayment pot - but - I cannot make overpayments as a letter from the Inland Rev informs me I have not sent in my tax return.
Yeah ... I know ..its with my accountant ..but...I have not actually accounted for my tax payments anywhere....oh what a financial dumpling I am :rotfl:
So now I may be very short of money come end Jan and the overpayment pot will be needed for the tax man!
Think frugal january very very important now.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
