Nearly out of perfume. One thing I dont really want to give up - so - had a look on that expensive cosmetics apothecary site and hurrah...found in their sale section a gift box containing 15 ml of a perfume I like along with a body lotion, shower gel and 2 bath bombs for £5 less than the 15 ml bottle of pefume on its own! And as they sent me a voucher for £10 and free express delivery as I had'nt shopped with them for a while (that would be because I've been a MFW :rotfl:) the whole lot was £4!! Bargin!!:T

I'm overjoyed. Could get to love this frugal approach.

Restrained self from buying more of the sale boxes though. I have a cupboard full of stuff I've been sent to trial that I am still working my way through.:)

  • Hello Watty1

That sounds like a fab site for christmas next year but I already have wrapped those presents. ;) I love the fact you have supported the small shops, I do where ever I can, but not at the moment as on a shopping detox. :(

Frugal is the new fun and very addictive.

LGP You have bought and wrapped 2014 Christmas Presents!!! Wow!!! Seriously impressed :j

We've sold some shares held in Mr Watty's name allowing us to make a lovely overpayment as our final push of 2013. Did think about hanging on to the money to add to the "house purchase plans" first put forward by Sweet Daisy and GallyGirl that I love and will run with - but - on balance I have now an emergency fund, an outside the box scheme plan for that - and so now think I should push on with MFW plans to avoid fizzling out.

Finally decluttered a kitchen cupboard. Read a book about minimalistic lifestyle over the last few days. Am not about to de-clutter everything we own and move to the sheer basics but it did make me think a bit.

I only read it because I became aware during the Christmas party time just how much time I waste looking for things like a dress or a pair of shoes or my earrings. And mainly its because we have too much "stuff" and very little of it actually has a proper home. Currently most of my wardrobe is on the spare bed! Well it hides the fact there is no mattress on the bed I suppose!

Mr Watty says its because we have no storage.

Well we don't have many cupboards but I have to laugh. There are two of us in a 3 bedroom house with 2 barns. I think we could be smarter in how we live here.

This MFW journey has made me aware of how much I have spent on *stuff* along the way that I didnt need and bought to just make me feel better about life. Am now on a serious declutter for a simplier life. Well, even just to find my winter hat would be good :rotfl:

  • What is the book Watty? I think I need to read it as currently doing that post Christmas thing of looking at all the *stuff* we have acquired and wondering how on earth it's going to fit in!

It's cool that you are ending the year with an op :)

I flogged most of my unworn clothes in the summer. Dont miss them at all and feel less guilty not having them sitting there.

EchoDelta it was Miss Minimalist Inspiration to downsize, declutter and simplify.

And by telling you that you know I have failed on my "nothing on the kindle" personal challenge :rotfl: But it was under a £1 and I didnt get her other one which claims to be her guide on "how to" but was a lot more expensive!:A

It isn't a "must have" book but it has inspired me enough to have a go at 2 kitchen drawers, a cupboard and 2 shelves in my office so far and I love the effect! And to be honest I've really only thrown out rubbish so far with a box under my desk into which I'm stashing charity shop donates that for some reason I dont want to ebay.

Oh well done. I always worry I will "miss them" once they are gone. And in fact have sold stuff I then regret when my life changes a bit.

On the other hand if I'm honest there is some very unflattering stuff in my wardrobe.

    Great facebook page. Thanks.

I realise I could never be a minimalist. I have turned attention to office cupboard and found 21 highlighters and enough pens to last till the turn of the century! Plus 12 rolls of sellotape. I dare not list the other stuff - too embarrassing :rotfl:
