:T Just checked bank on line again and the endowment has paid out. This is one that Mr Watty took out years ago with his first wife to pay off their house. He has always insisted keeping it going and resisting any suggestions of researching if we should cash it in. And today it paid out :T
We had talked about buying cars, having a holiday etc with the cash, but now we are on this MFW push instead the money has been transferred to the overpayment pot. Seems fitting to use if for its original intention somehow. Delighted to have a £28029.17 boost
In true MFW style I rounded that up to £28050 for the pot.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

Fab news Watty, we've kept our endowments too. One of which pays out in 11 months time. We have decided that amongst other things we are going on a family holiday of a lifetime. Our kids are of an age that they will really appreciate this; perhaps not very MS, but we will use some of it towards the mortgage:T. Very impressed with your self-discipline!0

Thanks all. Its odd but I dont actually feel any temptation to spend it any other way. This forum/diary must be rubbing off on me!!
Took Young Horse out for a potter round the lanes with neighbour and he was a very good boy. Then a friend came and gave him his first ever clip - and - again he was a star. Just a little clip so he still wont need rugs but he wont be so uncomfortable when having lessons hopefully. She clips regularly for folk so I asked how much she wanted and bless her she said just her petrol money. I actually gave her more than that as she had been so kind to both of us that I suggested petrol + a bottle of wine seemed much more reasonable to me
Off to pub this evening with a couple of friends I haven't seen in a while but do not plan to spend too much ......Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Busy weekend. Saturday working. Sunday took dog to his training class then Mr Watty and I spent afternoon helping pal out with broken light, radiator and leaking tap. And my new frugal ways inspired her having got her 2 new lights off ebay for £30 instead of the £100 she had been quoted! DIY jobs all took so long that we didnt go out for dinner as planned but came home and ate in kitchen instead. A saving:)
And the 1st of December yesterday - a big day in the Watty household as the part of our mortgage that was on a tracker with penalties shifts to SVR. Now, this is a higher rate - but - means that I can overpay so the monies for the endowment paid plus some of the savings pot shifted to the mortgage.
A total of £31500 overpaid :TMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Am so happy. Work all caught up. And all invoiced out. :T
Phew phew phew!! Will think carefully before just taking stuff on again over and above my usual work load.
Have also caught up with washing and ironing and tidied house. Might just declutter a wardrobe this evening as part of the streamline less clutter edge to this MFW lark. I know how to have a good time :rotfl:Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
