Just been to give the ponies their night hay. Heard Mr Watty giving Eds a good night kiss.
Am considering buying a calmer ... I wonder if Baby and I could share one :rotfl:Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I know it may not be great for you, but I am loving Ed's the pony. It is early days for your baby. What calmer were you thinking of?? Sheep/donkey or something else. Ed's sounds so nice couldn't you try and establish another loan arrangement. It does sound as if MrW may not want to let him go! Good Luck!:rotfl:0

well done watty. Great diary.
How big are eds and mr watty? I have read all sorts but 20% of ponys weight as a max sounds ok?
Next time your zip sticks what about colouring it in with a pencil? Graphite is a great metal lubricant.
At the place we have camp they soak hay in a tubtrug under the tap with about a foot of hosepipe on the tap.
Oh for running water at our stables!0 -

I was thinking of a herbal calmer for baby and have just purchased him one on line. I gave it to baby when he first moved here and it did seem to help him cope with stress.
Mr Watty says Eds is staying. He suggested I might like to ride him as he is bombproof and he will do my confidence - and I quote "the world of good". As the little chap seems determined to knock him out by swinging his head around (Mr W says thats only because he is asking for treats) and seems unable to stand still rather resembling a tank on a mission I'm sceptical. I suspect Mr W has rose coloured glasses and is so busy polishing the little fellows halo that he does not notice Eds has no manners.:rotfl:Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Well Eds is only about 13.2 or 13.2 but he is a very chunky fell pony. He would take up a lot of leg . so although he is little I think the height will not be too much of an issue. .Mr W does not say what weight he is but has muttered he will need to lose weight so I suspect he thinks he is to heavy. Am all for the weight lose so some good may come of this yet!!
Great tip about the pencil for zips. Thanks.
I have been soaking hay in a bucket and it works fine but it does mean there is messy water (which doesnt drain away) and hay over the yard and i was after a better solution and ...:T ... we have one. The DIY store big tough bin has had a bathtub plug and drain fitting fixed into it. The plug is on a piece of string and it now stands over the yard drain. A hosepipe on the tap allows it to be filled and to drain I just pull the string, the plug comes out and the water goes down the drain. I love it. Far less mess and no dragging heavy wet hay nets about as it can just drain whilst in tub. (One of my arms doesnt work too well after riding accident - the cause of lost nerve too - so heavy nets are really difficult to deal with). Fabulous solution for just £28.
Am so lucky to have running water on the yard. Once kept a horse somewhere where I had to take water from home in containers. Are you doing that for ponyplops?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Am supposed to be writing a lecture. I dont want to do it and only said I would because the money would be useful for the overpayment pot. Struggling to get started though.
Instead I took the dog for lovely long walk and managed to pick 4 apples from a tree - would have picked more - but my pockets were full!! Still thats free food
Right ...really must get started on it now as its 3.30 pm and I've no idea where day has gone - although I have added 4 sheperds pies to the freezer stash.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

My darling DH wheelbarrows water down to ponyplops every morning while also walking the dog.
It sound like you have invented something very cool.
Whats the lecture on?0 -
Aw I wish I could adopt Mr Eds. Bolshy fell ponies are what I always ended up on when I was learning to ride. It doesn't seem normal if I'm not being dragged through bushes, bolting up hills or just standing stock still when supposed to be going for a nice long hack. Maybe I'm just a terrible rider :rotfl:
Give him a go. Nice and wide means harder to fall off and not too far from the ground0 -
Eds has peed off with me twice. Even Mr Watty has now noticed his remarkable lack of manners. That was when he was being towed across the field behind him :rotfl: However it seems Mr Watty has a plan for him, so we will see what unfolds.
Baby had a lesson today and he and I did fabulously! We actually have progressed to canter without panic from either of us! :T
Lecture has not progressed beyond the info gathering stage so that is tomorrows 'without fail' must do. Was side tracked by tidying some drawers and finding 7 pairs of unworn socks still in wrappers and rather large quantity of undies similiarly unworn. Am coming to the uncomfortable realisation that I have frittered huge sums of money. Still drawers nice and tidy now.
Was thinking that with the cold weather/hard winter forcast I should maybe buy some jumpers and then decided it would be better to actually clear the wardrobes and wear what I have. A quick look found a new yard/riding/waterproof coat that is unworn  and that I must have had years.
So here is my committment to no new clothes till mortgage greatly reduced if not cleared. I want to write unless I can justify them :rotfl:but thats cheating as I am sure I could. So, firm line. Nothing new in the wardrobe department! And will finish wardrobe sort out over next few days. Will look for a shop that sells secondhand dresses as there are a few there that could be sold ... I mean how many evening dresses and party frocks does a girl that never parties need
Finally £13 worth of stuff sold on ebayMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

What a treasure he is! How lovely of him. Lecture is on laboratory regulation. It just serves to remind me why I am on this journey ... when I am mortgage free I will be doing something else. Paddock maintenance for exampleMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
