Didn't do the financial shuffle yesterday, sort of saved it for today
Went for a run yesterday, have been using the coach to 5 k programme and finally I am able to do week 1. Will now aim to run 3 times a week.
Also rode Most Handsome who was an angel and we did everything I had planned to do in the session in 20 mins. So I stopped because it was all going so well
Financial shuffle this morning. Lala land meant I was not quite as mindful on the finances as I hoped. Plus we have been spending a bit on Mr Watty's dads place in the hope of getting him back home out of the nursing home which he is hating.
I have however found enough for the overpayment in the morning but it has involved stripping most accounts down to the minimum.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Very nice! I really enjoyed doing the couch to 5k program last winter/spring.
Once you get to the longer runs segments, I found the Zombies, Run! program interesting as a distraction - it's sort of radio drama-esque where you're one of the characters trying to outrun zombies.I learned the hard way to disable the zombie attack mode, though, as it expects you to run quite a bit faster for that segment and I was never able to do that.
I also listen to audiobooks while running, which helps motivate me to go out so I can listen to more of the story.0 -
I've used zombies run before and as a non runner I found it really good! Watty - the mortgage figure in your siggie: is that how much you have saved, or how much you want to save? Wasn't there a figure of around £11k only recently?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Fab tips on zombies run. Will save that for when I get a bit better. As I am a definite non running the coach to 5 k is a bit challenging!apple_muncher wrote: »Watty - the mortgage figure in your siggie: is that how much you have saved, or how much you want to save? Ah siggie not clear. The figure is the amount outstanding on the our last house (currently rented) so around £79,000.
I had managed to save about £11 k (well remembered!) this year as part of the retire plans. I worked out that clearing that mortgage will be the best use of the money as £79 k invested at say 5% would give me a return of £3950 but if I pay off the mortgage the property will give me a no risk return of just over £8600 so 10.89%
The mortgage isn't due to be repaid on its current repayment strategy until we are in our 70s which, I think is too late. If we work to clear it now then we will have an income from it that covers our bills meaning we just need to earn money for the upkeep of the cottage (a money pit for sure), food, horses and fun!
So current plan is to work to clear that mortgage now.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Overpayment made. Changed signature so hopefully it makes sense now! Mortgage amounts stay the same so we are slightly overpaying each month and then recalculated in January when we can overpay another 10%. Fix (2.65%) ends Feb. I know I could maybe have got a few more % leaving the £7900 I just overpaid in a 5% account for a couple of months but I know I am more motivated by seeing numbers fall so this will work for me better.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Congratulations, Watty!
You're right, its a lot clearer - I love the detail of the sort that you had, but its not easily digestible
As for doing the logical thing with the £7900 - yes, that would have been logical, but we all need to protect ourselves for the long haul, and the way that works for you is the best. Good for you2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Its so easy to get life get in the way. But what I've noticed is that it really hammers my confidence hence doing as much as I can. Not sure if I will fit anything in today due to big office plans (see next post)Congratulations, Watty!

Thanks KC. FIRE is the plan and anything that helps me feel that it is achievable is key right nowMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Have lost glasses. Have lost debit card. Before I went to Madrid I lost (and have now replaced) two credit cards. I strongly suspect these things are in the office. Time to admit that I work in a space 30 inches x 18 inches because there is work stuff scattered everywhere. So time for major declutter and clean
Began last night by removing all stock, completed a stock check and this morning the robotic hoover was pressed into service as it cleans easily under all shelving where stock is usually stored. The robotic hoover gave up a while ago so I will have to finish the job with a real hoover! Currently taking a break sitting on the shredder :rotfl:
Once the floor is hovered and the stock is back and stored I will do the ironing to clear some space in the kitchen (so I can remove everything from one area, sort through, clean, keep what is needed and bin the rest)
Aiming to get the office done today ....Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
