Thanks all
Just checked on line and the money still hasn't left my account yet so not quite there.
And oddly I feel more in debt than before :rotfl: as although I'm technically mortgage free I now have what I think of as real debts :rotfl: rather than a mortgage all be it interest free debts!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

No chance. Need to get on a sound financial footing and I think having this diary has really helped me so far.
This week is an eat out of stuff already in house challenge. Mr Watty has a week off work so no travel expenses and no work lunches to buy or meals out or drinks after work so most MSE from him too!
Just prepping sausage casserole for dinner this evening.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Need to keep up my eating out of house/freezer so am planning chicken stew to use up celery and peppers today and spinach and potato curry (to start to use up the mountain of spinach in freezer) with carrot and cashew curry (using up carrots in bottom of fridge) for tomorrow. Will make small portion of prawn curry to add more protein.
The protein makes such a difference to my mood.
Now what can I do with a handful of parsnips found in bottom of fridge I wonder?????Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Rang the bank as the money still remains in my current account and the mortgage balance still shows as unpaid.
The bank assured me payment is "in progress" and will hopefully show by the end of the week. And no more interest is due
So now I feel the mortgage is done :j :j :j
After the (no spend) party that I give myself for being mortgage free, the next challenge is to restore money to business and build a working capital fund as well. Over the last few months I have drained business to get MF and cashflow is ...ummm... lets just say I cannot actually pay bills at the moment.
I am also around £3 k short on my tax due in January
And we have no cash emergency fund.
Serious economies are going to be needed for the next 12 months. Possibly more so than before as I always felt we had a safety net in the cash emergency fund and the business and getting M/F has just wiped that all out.
Also need to start riding Most Handsome and have some fun with him too over the next 12 months.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

So there's a plan!
And well done :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I know we waste a lot of food here
The parsnips were nearly given to the ponies as a treat, but in full MSE spirit they are being turned into a portion of parsnip soup using a recipe found on the internet and will be frozen for winter days.
Alternatively it might just be served at MF Party later today - bring own bowls if you want a servingMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
