It is great when you can begin to see the way forward xPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Busy day. Patio finished and new sand swept into block paving, house clean and tidy, 5 lots of washing done, dried, put away, 1 lot of washing to hang out tomorrow and just finishing off work now. Bit late to be finishing but wanted to straighten out accounts and the good news is there is enough in the kitty to make another small overpayment next week! Hurrah!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thank you
I had not quite taken on board it was really that much. Gosh.
Of course you do Al. You really do. You were not expecting me to actually contradict you? I meant it is totally a need. Shall we start looking for one? Or have you found one already?Alchemilla wrote: »Watty help! I *need* an Irish Draught horse!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Lovely weekend. Spent Saturday at County Show where I saw a friend and her daughter get placed in a showing class :j And enjoyed watching classes and chatting to people ringside. Looked round shopping stands and felt no urge to buy anything. This MSE stuff really has changed my attitude
Foolishly got sunburnt quite badly though. Oops.
Party on Saturday night meant late night. Though bargin 80s fancy dress accessories admired by all and will find their way back to ebay later.
Sunday pottered about at home, lovely long walk with dog and Mr Watty and finished off the day with a stop at the local Costa Coffee. Funny how that seems the height of decadence these days

Mr Watty thinks we should set a target of the end of this year ...
Now there is no way that I can do this from my earnings - or from scrimping - but - he suggests we can if we release some of the emergency fund and then rebuild it after being MF. He pointed out the emergency fund is earning 1% and the Mortgage is 4%
This was good maths from him
Accordingly my June bonus + a chunk of cash released from the Emergency fund = an overpayment made.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Same here - and there was some nice stuff. I was almost tempted by some of the garden furniture. Our garden bench has been mended twice already and it now needs some more attention. There were a couple of benches that I liked, but in the end decided the present bench can be mended a third time (before it collapses when we both sit on it!)Looked round shopping stands and felt no urge to buy anything. This MSE stuff really has changed my attitude
Yes, a coffee out is one of my favourite treats - I love the people watching side of it toofinished off the day with a stop at the local Costa Coffee. Funny how that seems the height of decadence these days
