    It's only closed when people decide to cease discussing it...that's how a public forum works. You can't just 'turn it off' when you find it inconvenient.

    Actually, he can request the moderators close the thread. As it's deteriorated into something of a slanging match, I expect the moderators would be happy to oblige.
