Piggers Are there any charitable organisations in your area that deal with depressed/self harming teens (self harm doesn't just mean cutting these days it includes substance misuse without fatal intent)?
They may be worth a discreet chat with them to find out what facilities are around. Group workshops with teenagers with similar issues can help to break the isolation before they can even think about re-enrolling in education or trying to get out into the work place.
They may also be able to help him make sure he is getting the appropriate financial support as a young vulnerable person living on his own.
Going to the Police seems like the morally right thing to do, but I would look at getting other options of support around him to help as has been said once he gets a criminal record it will be even harder for him to get himself back on the straight and narrow as people will be even less likely to give him a chance. The cold never bothered me anyway0 -
DD is in bed. Minor strop at the dinner table so sent up. She didn't protest and happily got into bed and I haven't heard a muff from her since
I knew we were all tired. Even DS is lounging around today.
Clouds are rolling in but I might get another hours drying time. Still bright in between. I've sewn some Velcro onto DS school shorts instead of the very tight button, and he's tried them on and can do them up / down himself now.
Spare bed stripped and remade, DW fed, DD dinner in fridge for later (she barely touched it) and kitchen S&S. I also emptied the baking cupboard and sorted through stuff, refilling canisters etc. I'd had loads of stuff out in a big tub for a couple of weeks to do the peppa thing, but its all tidied and away now.

He gets £30 a week and a food parcel each week at the moment.. and has to make a contribution towards the utility bills/washing machine usage in the hostel.. it really isn't enough when they are expected to go to 'meetings' in various parts of the city etc. He turned up with no shoes the first time he came here!! Yet his parents appear to be rather financially comfortable.. they should have to make a contribution to his upkeep.
I'll have a look see what I can find out.. there must be something.

Thanks for the comments & advice folks :A I have ordered some sticks.
pigpen it's a tough one re DD2's bf. Your daughter is the most important concern I think. I take it she knows what he does... is she actively discouraging him or accepting that's the way he is? Is she more likely to influence him or the other way round? The fact that he is a pleasant helpful lad makes it more difficult to see him as a thief and a drug dealer
I agree he needs good parents and role models and I think finding his support worker or as others have suggested, someone from a charitable organisation to give him some positive direction before he gets too sucked into this lifestyle - and drags your daughter with him - is the best way to go. I know it's a bit of a cliche but what about boxing? I hope it works out well for everyone involved xx
AF has given me such a hard time I'm just pottering. I was up at 6 but back in bed by 7. There are lots of towels to be folded which I can do sitting down. I also need to sort through papers, invoices, stationery etc.
bossy I'm thinking about 'coming out' with my challenge but not yet sure if it will be fitness/weight related or DIY related. Hmmmm.

I agree with the other ladies Pigpen..not so good at putting things as well as them but think he needs more support than he is obviously getting...a criminal record will mean getting a job almot impossible in the future and if he is a good lad at heart as you say he needs help ..bless him xxFeeding 6 Adults 1 Teen a 8 year old with hollow legs and a very fussy 5 year old. Also 3 cats and 3 fishies

Bossy....I did do some studying but the kids were only back 2 days so ill start properly tomorrow.
Feeling very nervous about youngest going to new school and being full time but ironically his first week will be the week I need to write my final assignment for my current course so ill have that to occupy me but I may need to put peppa pig on in the background or it will be too quiet and strange here lolHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0 -
Made HM carrot and swede soup (got two bags of diced veg whoopsied on Friday - yesterday got so chaotic I didn't have time to use it) DD and I have just had it for lunch - some left; very tasty as I use a few sprigs of thyme for the garden so VERY moneysaving. Have also made HM rice pudding to use up OOD milk - and I have had that, too, with some HM bramble jelly on *feels super Old Style*. DD fancied stew for dinner but I knew she would want to eat as soon as she arrived home;) - stew's for tea. Have bought some cheap gin from Morries ready for sloe gin making. I have to make 'lots' apparently - for Christmas. DD suggests I put together hampers of HM jams; sloe gin etc. That girl will be an asset to this forum oneday - keep an eye out for her!
Yesterdays washing re-hung (it rained here yesterday) and more hung out. bathroom cleaned. I plan to crack on with thr ironing shortly.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

bossy 100% on the clothes/make-up/jewellery front. Now back from Helsinki I downloaded the first C25k podcast and will start that tomorrow.
Currently flying like a mad woman to get ahead for tomorrow. Bathroom and Kitchen S&S'd. 2 loads WM on airer, bread made. Currently sorting through post and filing, and backing up computer. Have collected the fuzzy beast. He was very glad to see us:D
LW have a lovely holiday.
(((hugs))) and spoons to all in need. I seem to have plenty at the moment - must be the kelp.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
Re the challenge - on a positive note I have exercised as much as possible, but it has not been swimming because of a suspected UTI. I'll give it another day and if the symptoms are still with me then i'll see the GP.
Skip filled and garage tidied. Honestly - we need another one! We had the right size of skip to fit in our drive, sadly the amount of gibble we have probably needed the next one up!
I was out on a walk this morning when I spotted DD2's b/f at the bus stop ( he had been at ours overnight) - when I went to talk to him he was reconciling himself with walking into town because the first bus from our side of town is not until 10am (poor lad had to get home, change and get to work at the races). I talked him in to borrowing my bike - so I've been doing my shopping on DD2's bike today - a very strange feeling.
Hope everyone is OK - LW hope you have a lovely holiday....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0
