Hope everyone is seeing some of the lovely sunshine this bank holiday weekend!
I had a great time at my murder mystery break. The bf and me won it and got a trophy saying super sleuth. I even managed a UU to...
Benefit total moisture facial cream sample. It was only a small sample so didn't get enough to see how it made a difference to my skin. So WNB as I will be saving up my pennies for Elemis PCMC.
Oh and Garnier Eye Make Up remover too. WBA as is works a great and is a fraction of the price of Clinique Take The a Day Off. Speaking of which I am now opening my last bottle to replace the Garnier one.
A TA too. M&S lipstick Flamingo. No idea what possessed me to buy this shade. Seemed like a good idea at the time.No buying toiletries Graduated May 2017Decluttered 2016 2469 items, 2017 1580 items :j2018 3060 itemsSealed Pot Challenge No 0380 -
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara - Black - TA - Sent to me on Boots trial, nothing remarkable and not worth the money IMO
Totally agree on the Smashbox thing. I don't understand how excited people get. Every product I've tried is average at best.:think:Cookie, I think you're tame. :heart2:

Sorry to be a pain but lush do use a melt and pour base that they buy in made from rapeseed and coconut oil. In the factory they add fruit juice and scents e.t.c I still have a piece of old formula snowcake soap from about 7 years ago and it's beautiful I don't want to use it as I will never get anymore.
UU's
Nivea soft 8ml sample WNBA nice enough
Olay regenerist 7 ml sample WNBA it had a high SPF but it was a little too rich for my skin
That's a bit poop isn't it?! And they should really be hand making it I'm led to believe that they do...sorry for being a pain in thinking I was right :-D yeah old formulae snow cake is just delish!! They should grow their own sustainable palm oil and use that :-D
The whole world should really but we won't get started on that...hahahaDon't turn a slip up into a give up

I don't see why they don't allow you to say what the product is, isn't that the whole point of you reviewing stuff? To spread the word?
Oh well
I have quite fine hair and I use these, the spray before, the serum afterwards.....

I find they do the job without weighing my hair down, hth.
That does help a lot, thanks for that. I've just tried the cheapo heat protection spray I bought and it was fine, (lovely smell) but Home Bargains often have stuff once and never again.
The reason I couldn't post a review or say what the product is precisely is because they were supplied by Am@zon/manufacturers to review on Am@zon. The idea being that my review will then help people to make an informed decision on purchasing - from Am@zon, naturally, not from anywhere else. Which you could easily do.
However, it occurred to me that directing you to the page on Am@zon is probably exactly what they would like.
I use my real name on Am@zon, though just my initials. I am not allowed to canvass for helpful votes.

I have fine hair too, and have tried so many of the things out there for fine hair & heat protection. The two I would recommend:
1. Budget option - L'Oreal Hot & Straight - I forget the full name but it comes in a hot pink spray bottle and is specifically for fine hair. V.v.good, does not weigh hair down at all and kept my hair in top condition when I frazzled it with hair straighteners and hot rollers on an almost daily basis.
2. Non-budget option - Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence - love this stuff too. I buy either depending on how much I feel like spending!
Being one of those doctors who speaks to people about their weight as part of my job... I have realised over the years how much distress it causes people. BMI, calories etc etc are very harmful... they encourage an "on" and "off" approach to eating that leads to a very difficult relationship with food. I'm not sure I can say anything helpful, but I do believe that it's important to shut out the mainstream attitude towards weight and diets. & By mainstream, I also mean my fellow colleagues advice, when it is inappropriate or doesn't take into account all of your individual factors.
Xxx
Thanks Parisian, that L'Oreal sounds good, I like their products usually. Boots points spending time!
I also nodded along to what you said about weight.
I have found maintaining a healthy weight for my arthritis very tough, but the pain and immobility caused by the arthritis is a lot worse than saying no to cakes, rich cheeses, fat-laden meats, pastries, cream in all forms, crisps and chocolate, plus all the other sinful but delicious things I used to love.
I know that the very sedentary lifestyle I now lead doesn't allow me to indulge as I once did. I do exercise using my trike - cycling- as I can do that easily and virtually pain free. I move around as much as I can.
My arthritis was triggered (eventually, in my late 40s) by my odd gait, I have hemiparesis and one leg is shorter and weaker than the other. I wasn't as overweight when I was running around with a very active lifestyle, despite the disability.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I rate a lot of the M&S perfumes too, I have had Autograph Blush before and really love the Per Una one too. Can't go far wrong at the price.
Me toodiscovered them a couple of years ago, and have a few on the go. I've bought them on the run up to Christmas when M&S have had special offers on :money:
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

Hi All,
Thanks for all the eyeshadow tips and recommendations, its good to see I'm not the only one who's a little bit obsessed!Kadison, I've used many of those No. 7 Mink eyeshadows before and that's exactly the kind of shade I like but I think I've turned into a bit of an eyeshadow snob lately
I've just got a thing for palettes! Still not bought a new one, I'm stuck on either Too Faced Boudoir Eyes or Naked I think it was (again thank you for the recommendation dolly), but the latter one was out of stock on Escentuals and I couldn't find it anywhere else either. I might make my own UD palette yet.... I'm not in a desperate rush, I just fancied some

I have no say in what's on the list of 'stuff' I'm offered.
However, because I have reviewed a lot of beauty products, I've been offered some beauty related 'stuff' too.
The one thing in particular I never managed to be offered was straighteners.
Until now. I'm the proud owner of a version new to the market.
Previously, I wasn't quite sure if I'd get on with them and having made mistakes with gadgets in the past, I was reluctant to spend £50 on something I wouldn't like, so I'd held off from buying.
Following a first use, I am now a very happy bunny. I cannot give too many details of what they are exactly, that's outside the rules, but I have given them 5 stars on my review.
They are made by a major European company, noted for quality products, so will hopefully last.
So another IN from Home Bargains - Salon Chic So Smooth Straightening Mist to use with them.
Some of the HB stuff I've used in the past has been great, some not so good.
Does anyone here have a recommendation on what would work well on fine, flyaway, coloured hair when using straighteners?
I didn't use anything on my dry hair the first time, but I'd conditioned my hair really well with a rinse out conditioner as a precaution. I have such thin, fine hair, I daren't risk any damage.
Hair straighteners sound fab And. I've used that Salon Chic spray before and found it pretty decent for the price, they also constantly have it in stock in my local branch, doesn't seem to be one of those products they get once and it never reappears. Its a bit more pricey but the Elnett version is really fantastic and has been on offer lately £9 for two, just don't use it on a hard floor as makes it extremely slippery! :eek:0 -
Finally, to round up for the month, I've had 9 IN and 16 UU/GA. Pretty pleased with that, especially as only 4 of the IN were proper bought ones. Total spend comes in at under £15 too :money:
Last bits to declare IN are:
Vichy Skin Idealizer Serum sachet - magazine sample out of Elle which I bought for 25% discount for River Island and then decided not to use! (gave to a girl at work for her daughter)
Kenzo Flower in the Air sample (from mag)
Calvin Klein Down Town sample (from mag)
Givenchy Very Irresistible sample (from mag)
Garnier 2 in 1 Makeup Remover - replacing Clinique Take the Day Off, was going to get No. 7 version with voucher as have a few glossies kicking about but I wrongly assumed it was just the only Cleanse and Care repackaged, glad I checked reviews on Boots app as its been absolutely slated. I've heard good things about the Garnier one, I'm sure its been talked about on here so giving this one a whirl. I never used to use a separate eye makeup remover but with this Benefit mascara its a must!
Final UU/GA for the month are:
Givenchy Very Irresistible - WNBA - Mum wears this, its just not me
Calvin Klein Down Town - WBA - Hadn't smelt this before, I really like it, I can't justify buying any perfume at the moment but would definitely like some of this in future
Beyonce Heat Body Lotion - This is a GA, WNBA - it smells really nice and the consistency is pretty standard but its gold/shimmery and as I put it on straight before bed, its not ideal for white sheets! Don't understand body shimmer products full stop if I'm honest! Maybe its just me?
Confession time, going to start Oct on the naughty step, not been there for a while either! Made a TBS order last night with the 50% code, I've not ordered for absolutely ages but in fairness everything I got will be used and was pretty much needed, the stash is fairly small nowadays - so I'll have six IN to declare once that arrives tomorrow
Not seen Boots Christmas stuff yet but encouraged that no one seems to be raving, might stop me going mad in the Boxing Day sale like I did last year!! OOTW may also be less attractive with a bit of luck, I do have a tendancy to go OTT0 -
