I have no say in what's on the list of 'stuff' I'm offered.
However, because I have reviewed a lot of beauty products, I've been offered some beauty related 'stuff' too.
The one thing in particular I never managed to be offered was straighteners.
Until now. I'm the proud owner of a version new to the market.
Previously, I wasn't quite sure if I'd get on with them and having made mistakes with gadgets in the past, I was reluctant to spend £50 on something I wouldn't like, so I'd held off from buying.
Following a first use, I am now a very happy bunny. I cannot give too many details of what they are exactly, that's outside the rules, but I have given them 5 stars on my review.
They are made by a major European company, noted for quality products, so will hopefully last.
So another IN from Home Bargains - Salon Chic So Smooth Straightening Mist to use with them.
Some of the HB stuff I've used in the past has been great, some not so good.
Does anyone here have a recommendation on what would work well on fine, flyaway, coloured hair when using straighteners?
I didn't use anything on my dry hair the first time, but I'd conditioned my hair really well with a rinse out conditioner as a precaution. I have such thin, fine hair, I daren't risk any damage.
I don't see why they don't allow you to say what the product is, isn't that the whole point of you reviewing stuff? To spread the word?
Oh well
I have quite fine hair and I use these, the spray before, the serum afterwards.....

Ahhhh Xmas things are nice, maybe pop in and have a look?
Can I just be a lush geek and correct you on the soap formular?
It is all made on site at the factory and it is formulated from a blend of oils like rapeseed and coconut so that we no longer use palm oil.
There are big issues with deforestation linked to the commercial palm oil market that they decided they didn't want to be part of.
Tis true the soaps don't lather as much as they used to, but the orangutangs will thank us for it
:
Sorry to be a pain but lush do use a melt and pour base that they buy in made from rapeseed and coconut oil. In the factory they add fruit juice and scents e.t.c I still have a piece of old formula snowcake soap from about 7 years ago and it's beautiful I don't want to use it as I will never get anymore.

Me too, I have been hiding my head in shame and sitting quietly on the naughty step for all of September after indulging in a couple of GWPs early on. I have since tidied the bathroom cupboard and grouped everything into categories, so at least I have good visual on the problem.Mortgage

I rate a lot of the M&S perfumes too, I have had Autograph Blush before and really love the Per Una one too. Can't go far wrong at the price.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Have a last flurry of uu to report
Mandara Spa Citrus Spice Bubble Bath - 500ml, WBA, love this range.
Mandara Spa Citrus Spice Shower Gel - 250ml- as above.
Mandara Spa Amber Heaven Body Cream - 50ml, have a full size in the stash, love the fragrance but find it takes a bit of rubbing in.
Face mask sachet - mint and lemon clay - I got three uses out of this (squeezed into an empty face cream pot), good value, quite pleasant but didn't do anything amazing. Sorry I have forgotten the make.
No7 Beautifully Balanced Cleaner - WNBA, this is the last of about 8 bottles, I have the matching toner left though.
And - Well done on the straighteners, I have fine hair and only straighten it a couple of times a week, I use Lee Stafford Heat Protection Spray (lovely stuff which smells of Thierry Mugler Angels).
This may sound crazy but I have a magic hair straightening hat - it is a North Face Bones Beanie (I have two), I style hair as normal and then wear hat for school run, dog walk or whatever and when I take it off my hair is smooth and straight with no frizz or flyaways. Obviously this only works in winter when I need to wear my hat, in summer my hair and me are locked into a bitter battle.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hi all,
Blimey, it has been a while! I didn't even realise that I hadn't posted at all this month!
OK, so I've had some outs...the same old, same old really:
Creighton's Summer Blonde Conditioner
Corsodyl Daily
Sensodyne Daily
and very soon-to-be Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
oh, and 1 x OS Lime shower gel + 2 x OS mint and tea tree shower gel
Then I realised that I had absolutely no make-up and went to TBS with the 50% off code yesterday and bought:
Pencil sharpener
Eyeshadow brush
Slanted beauty brush
Raspberry lipgloss
Lightening touch (their version of Touche Éclat)
Eyeshadow pallet
Baked to Last Bronzer
large Shea Body Butter
Satsuma Body Scrub
and Dirty Works Foot Butter in Sainsbury as it was down to £1.49 and I'm about to run out of my lovely Sanctuary foot moisturiser (it looks like a S&G rip off)
Now I impulse bought the last two TBS items which I don't actually need, much as I like them, so they are going straight back. The rest I do need, but I'm not 100% sure how suitable they are for me...I'm taking a bit of a risk. Having said that, the sales assistant was really, really good, giving me lots of tips on how to apply it (and I need all the help I can get, trust me)!
I also bought:
2 OS Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel
2 x OS Lime Shower Gels
I still need a new lipgloss of two. I had a really lovely deep pink Maybelline one that I would like to buy again as it really, really suited me. I could do with something a little different as well, and I see that Boots have a 'buy one get one half price' offer on at the minute, so that might just be the ticket!
If I get my new foundation, that should be me sorted for a while. Except for a blender brush. I could really do with one of those (I could just use another brush instead, right?)Please call me 'Pickle'

Hello!
I've started the October thread, unsure how to hyperlink to previous months' threads so that just the month shows, if someone wants to tell me how I'm happy to edit it.MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -

I have fine hair too, and have tried so many of the things out there for fine hair & heat protection. The two I would recommend:
1. Budget option - L'Oreal Hot & Straight - I forget the full name but it comes in a hot pink spray bottle and is specifically for fine hair. V.v.good, does not weigh hair down at all and kept my hair in top condition when I frazzled it with hair straighteners and hot rollers on an almost daily basis.
2. Non-budget option - Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence - love this stuff too. I buy either depending on how much I feel like spending!rosemary54 wrote: »feeling depressed:(been to see a consultant and first thing she says is lose weight:(:(:(:(yes I do know I am too heavy doc but have not changed in 10 years which I think is good in a way.I dance 3 to 4 times a week and swim 3 times a week and drink less than the 14 units a week and generally have a good diet so not sure what to do next!!!

Being one of those doctors who speaks to people about their weight as part of my job... I have realised over the years how much distress it causes people. BMI, calories etc etc are very harmful... they encourage an "on" and "off" approach to eating that leads to a very difficult relationship with food. I'm not sure I can say anything helpful, but I do believe that it's important to shut out the mainstream attitude towards weight and diets. & By mainstream, I also mean my fellow colleagues advice, when it is inappropriate or doesn't take into account all of your individual factors.

& Finally, a few INs. I popped into the Body Shop today with the 50% off code on my phone and picked up:
1. Organic cotton wool squares x4 - worked out at £1.25 each which is great
2. Two concealor crayons
3. White Musk Body Mist 100ml - This scent reminds me of my teens, I just love it
4. Nail clippers
Original price was £39.50, and I got it all for £16 as some other 3 for 2 offer went through on the till in error, and they kindly said they would just let it go through. So overall, less than 50%... Bargain!
