  • Oh and Sky to DVD is not the same as DVD to Sky
    3+4, 4+3. Tomato, tomaYto. Hey ho, it's sorted now anyway.
  • Hope you've got one of these...

    Except in this case;

    Sky to DVD = works
    DVD to Sky = not works

    It's not really sorted. You've reached a compromise situation which "appears" to fit your usage.

    With the correct scart connections you would be able to;

    1. View Sky via HDMI
    2. View DVD via Scart (with appropriate sound)
    3. Record from Sky to DVD. Whilst this may seem redundant with all of the recording being done on the Sky+ box, it can be handy to make a DVD recording of something you have recorded via Sky+. This might be because you wish to keep a DVD copy or you may wish to share a recording made on Sky with other people.

    Basically Kurtis_Blue is correct that DVD to Sky is different from Sky to DVD.
  • I'm not sure how it isn't sorted...??

    I came into this thread being able to view a DVD, but not hear it. I wanted help in order to view the film AND hear it.

    As a result of this thread i can now view AND hear the DVD.

    To me that's sorted & i'm stumped how anyone could say otherwise. I had a problem, now i don't. How can that be anything but sorted?

    Aside from it being sorted, i'm not sure how Sky to DVD works. I've removed the lead that runs between these two. When it was in place it didn't work, so not sure how you can say it's working with it being in place as when i tested it, it didn't & i haven't posted back to say that a scart lead between Sky & DVD works.

    That is irrelevant anyway, because the problem is solved & the contiunation of the thread is pretty pointless now because of that.

    Yes it's sorted from that aspect.

    However it's not sorted in that before it's quite likely that you had another option which you, or to be precise your mum, doesn't now have - ie the ability to record Sky onto DVD.

    No you haven't managed to get it to work. It doesn't mean that it doesn't work.

    I have;

    Sky to TV via HDMI
    Sky to DVD via Scart
    DVD to TV via Scart

    With this set up, which is identical to yours in so far as I have given limited information as to how exactly the scarts are connected, I can;

    Watch Sky in HD
    Watch and hear a DVD playing
    Record from Sky to DVD
    That is irrelevant anyway, because the problem is solved & the contiunation of the thread is pretty pointless now because of that.

    It's pointless for you as you don't want to learn how to properly connect the equipment.

    However it's not pointless for anyone else that might come across this thread and think this cannot work when it clearly can.
