  • the tartan is a lovely colour are you matching the rest of your wedding to it? i always think it looks lovely when people do that. the scottish theme is more for the reception back home (north east) as nobody will be there when we actually get married in scotland lol so i thought id bring it into the reception. i hope you get your ring sorted you'll just have to be very assertive. iv now found the stuff for the rest of my 'wedding party' from bhs cornflower blue is the colour. OH and DS both have suits so im just getting them waistcoats and ties and a matching set for little DS he will look so cute. and dresses for the two girls i can get everything for £275 so im pleased with that.

Not really matching the tartan in, too much hassel but may be in the cake.

Sounds like your on a roll with wedding things recently :T:T

It's a slightly terrifying thought! We spent new years eve writing out our invitations, now they are just waiting for a trip to the post office to check what stamps they need! I've been sending emails to hairdressers and florists over the weekend too so I'm waiting for them to get back to me. We also got our honeymoon booked - a week in Dubrovnik, decided it was worth more to us to save funds for buying a house rather than another big holiday (he proposed while we were having a 2.5 week break in Malaysia last May, and that wasn't cheap).

It feels like we've got just about everything sorted now, which is strange - I somehow expected it to be a lot more...disorganised - I had a dream a few nights ago that it was the big day and I had no flowers or cake, and my dress wasn't ready, so I'm not sure my subconcious is feeling so settled.

Anyone else got more prep done over the Christmas break?
  • hi how is everyone. bought buttonholes today will need tarting up a bit but artificial ivory rose with fern type leaf behind and stem wrapped in green florists tape with a safety pin attatched for 99p each in boyes a bargain. i think i might change the leaf or at least trim it down and add some artificial heather or thistle to match my bouquet when i get it and possibly some ribbon i might have to google buttonholes for some ideas lol.:rotfl:

Happy New Year Ladies! This is the year we get married :p
I hope you had a lovely Christmas :)

We have done NOTHING for three weeks wedding related although we have mentioned it a few times and made notes... and bought bridesmaid bags, bolleros, bow ties... :o

Thank you for the advice on the wedding dress expedition and i am so glad you got your dream dress so cheaply! I know what you mean about women spending £3k on a dress on a credit card... madness!!!
The dress is not to important to me (she says now lol) but everybody else is freaking about it at me! I'd like a simple 'boho' dress or a 'tea dance 1950s white rockabilly' style. At the end of the day there will be barns, grass, mud (more than likely), straw bales, lawn games and I can't bring myself to spend money on a dress that will get mucky but i want a nice one :o I've got £100/£150 for a dress and shoes (if it is the long bo ho dress it will be my cowboyboots lol). Jewellry is to a minimum and flowers in my hair. My OH is spending more than me! It doesn't seem a lot and i may well go higher (£300 is the budget) but so far i've not seen anything more expensive that i like but I am trying not to look yet!

runawaybride Your decorations do sound beautiful and sublte, i love it!

my definition I like the idea of finding your ring design and getting it made for yourself, very personal touch so I hope he behaves himself making it and it fits the shape! I have a clogau engagement with e celtic heart shape so I have now put it on my finger to what i think is the wrong way round to get used to it so my wedding ring will fit up against it after the big day. it feels weird :/

That tarten is gorgeous!!!!!! As for the bhs cornflower blue, love it! Weirdly we are having BHS 'Sage' Green for ours! I loved the blue and wanted it because we live by the sea and barn 1 was riverside but the green would look better in barn 2 as it is more 'farmy' :)

Flowers flowers flowers... Thistles and roses... they seem so lovely and will look gorgeous! I have all my seeds now and intend sowing some this weekend although I am starting to worry about button holes. The bouquet is not to much worry and will be done the day before (fild flowers and a sage ribbon) when we are decorating the barns with our brothers and sisters in laws. The flower girls will have basic white babys breath, sage stalks and a sage ribbon but faffing around with button holes as well... maybe 10 of them? Maybe i need a volunteer.... I might ask my sister in law to be as she is just as crafty as me!

Happy 2014 wedding wedding wedding wedding!!!!

  • hi i havent seen it in real life yet but i was expecting it to be a baby blue it could possibly be a blue/lavender im hoping to get to the shop to see it over the next couple of weeks.
OH picked his ring yesterday a big deal as he wasnt sure he wanted one but i wanted him to have one he has never worn jewellery he doesnt even like wearing a watch. im hoping he will get used to it lol. i did say it was his choice.
exciting week this week as we are announcing the engagement next saturday i cant wait.
i bought one of the new magazines thats out with the heart chocolate moulds so im going to have a go at making some if it works i can make them for the tables. and also got some artificial white heather the box of bits and pieces is getting quite full lol.

I see the cornflower blue as a baby blue with a slight lilac tint maybe, while corn flour blue really should be quite a bright almost purple colour if you look at the flowers - actually more like their 'Ocean' colour!!!

The Sage dresses are really good and look exactly like the photographs but with a slight satin shine to them. The are quite heavy and the bolleros and bags are just as good quality. I got them in the half price Sale ;) £18.00 for a clutch bag down to £9.00 and then have a detachable loop for your wrist and a zip inside to keep your things safe. The Bolleros are the same quality but feel a little 'stiff' but are lovely :)
I think you will be happy when you see them in the flesh :)

Well done on getting him to pick the ring. My OH was the same when he had his engagement ring on at first, it felt noticeable but then when he brok it at work years later he said he felt naked without it on!

Good luck with announcing the engagement! It will be fantastic, you never see so many people smile, it might get a little overwhelming!
