Haa haa a little pre Christmas wedding countdown, nothing like that to put a frightner on it all! 201 days does not seem long at all... 189 days seems a lot less though!!!!!
We didn't send out save the date cards but we were going to send invitation out with the Christmas cards to save on postage!!! Just as it happened though we were having our brother and sisters round for a takeaway so we told them and about 3 weekes later a bunch of family members came up for a meal so we gave his sides out there and posted my sides that day so everybody found out at once. It was all a bit of an accident!
If we did save the dates though i wouldn't have bothered sending out invites untill much later though.
Hmmm work people... i'm not sure? We are limited to 110 people at the barns. We have told our mums that it is 90 people, we have told everybody else it is 60 adults, 20 kids and a few friends and a few friends. I have only been in my job for 10 months and i do like everybody but if it is a choice between work and friends.... would you have to pay much extra for them? For us as we are getting married so early we would have to put 'extra' food on at night just for 10/15 people or they would have to be there by 4pm for food! We are having snacks for latter to soak up alcohol though
If you have the room and it doesn't cost a huge amount then i would invite them. The ones you like will come and the others won't bother! Also the elder members of your family will be sloping off so you get to replace them with lively sober people!
Also if you do have family members or people that can not come and let you know on your RSVP you would have spare seats to fill with work people? If it is just a night invitation people do not expect them until much closer to the wedding anyway so you would have a lot of time. Thats how we are playing it to be honest.
Our RSVP is March the 1st for camping at the barns (it is limited you see) and everything else is a bit wishy washy as the hog roast and lamb can go to more than 100 people or people can have extras if less than 100 people come, there is about 120 biscuits, crisps, cheese etc.
Oh yeah we were going to have cheese boards for desert as we were not keen on a wedding cake... so now we are having a cheese wheel wedding cake! They look great and lets face it... nothing else is exactly typical at our wedding lol It did take 20 mintues to convince my mum tho0ugh, she was NOT happy!!! After showing her google imiages of them though and saw they were decorated she now actually quite likes the 'unusual idea' as she puts it.
I love cheese! However i found out i cant eat dairy about a year ago so that sadly wouldnt work
it wouldnt cost us anything to be honest. We have up to 150 at night (buffet for 110 included in our price but they say not everyone eats) and our numbers arent up that high i just dont know about inviting people i will quite possibly never see again but i suppose it would up our numbers a bit for the disco....
im tempted to set rsvp earlier now....
we only gave save the dates to family really and a few friends, only gave maybe 15.0 -

Oh dearrunaway bride i hope it all gets sorted. My fingers are crossed for you.

Nightmare of a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not wedding related though but very heartbreaking.
The day i last posted in the wee hours of the morning my future brother and sister inlaws house caught fire. Everybody got out alive and safely thankfully. The childrens rooms were completely gutted and they lost everything, they lost the roof, a few celings and the bathroom but everything else has water and smoke damage. They got evacuated to a B&B and the past two days have been a horrible ordeal of sifting through their belongings for storage and hopefully cleaning by the insurance company. It's just been devestating and will take such a long time to sort out. At least they are safe as it could have been a lot worse but the artermath just as it is, is just heartbreaking.
Luckily having a set of 3 brothers with mrs's, friends and cousins all living really close together it has been amasing. The local cafe was bringing up coffee and teas for us, all the shops gave us their boxes, the school has had a collection for clothes and toys for the kids and the donations have been incredible. It just makes you cry at how nice people can be in a crisis.
It really does make you look at things differently and the love between family is incredible and you can phisically feel your heart aching for their terrible experience.
They have found a rented house and so will be moving them in over the weekend and cobbling things together so they at least have a 'home' and each other for Christmas.
I just needed to come on here and see the happy and crazy wedding talk to take my mind off things!
On a wedding note we have got a time and date to officially register the wedding and show the paperwork, 24th of December! It is kind of a great Christmas gift
I hope you get through to your decorator dearrunaway bride as it would be a piece of mind to know that it is booked before Christmas. Luckily we have the barns from the night before and will do it ourselves with our siblings and a BBQ which will be lovely and relaxing as it wont be rushed - plus we will freak out if it was left to others to do0 -
thats terrible scmp but thank god they are all ok. kind of puts the wedding stress in perspective.
decorator now sorted its just the table cloths and chair covers they are doing we are doing the rest ourselves but didnt want the stress of doing everything with 2 toddlers in toe lol. also managed to get in touch with paper company and their sending out another sample pack for me as it seems last one has been lost in post.

scmp - thats such a shame about the fire, im glad everyone is ok though obviously it will be very upsetting for them all. It does put wedding planning into perspective.
runaway bride. Congrats on getting the dress. While im with you on the budget some people spend thousands on a dress so £540s still a good price.0 -

the dress was in the sale with 10% off so im telling myself it was a bargain lol. apparently all dresses are going up by 20% from all supliers from january except in london  not sure if that was just sales patter or if its truth but worth bearing in mind. also to have the same dress with a train costs an extra £400
going for first fitting tomorrow :Tiv done 3 things right in my life and their all perfect

Exciting!! How did it go?0 -
Oh yes please do tell!!!!!
I have decided to let my mumt ake me wedding dress perussing... I am happy to grab something closer to the time, off a rack or what not but i have realised it is actually a big day out for her even if there is no fitting. I'd love to know what goes on so i don't look like an idiot in the shop!0 -
it was fab i felt like a princess
id already chosen the dress and tried it on the last time but it was a bit rushed. this time i had the appointment so she asked if id like to try it again i said yes if thats ok with a huge grin on my face and she started to laugh. so she helped me get into it loaned me some shoes so it was the right length and said try walking around in it and see how it feels. i got to see it in the huge mirrors and i could see some people looking through the window and smiling which made me feel great. she then measured me and checked which size i needed to order and discussed the options as im trying to lose another 1/2 stone so iv gone for a slightly smaller size although it can be adjusted if it needs it. it was a brilliant experience and probably even better with your mum there i was on my own as we are getting married in secret lol. i would recommend going to try dresses even if your not buying from the shop just dont do what i did and fall in love with a dress that smashes your budget to piecesiv done 3 things right in my life and their all perfect
