Please quote where I said he phoned up PAYPOINT BEFORE the police arrived?! If you opened your eyes, I quite clearly said he (the store manager) informed me he was on speaking to paypoint trying to get this sorted, which I doubt was the case as he kept walking around and going at the back, he was obviously on the phone to the police telling them what was happening. He phoned PAYPOINT, AFTER the police arrived to check if the vouchers were genuine or not.

    so.

In your first post you said.

Before calling the police, he called paypoint who even themselves confirmed everything was genuine.

Think it is the 5 th line down, but that will depend on your screen settings etc.

And as for spending £250 a week at Co-OP while working at Sainsburys, so have a discount card, you must be mad. The fact the Co-OP is so much more expensive to start with and your 10% discount probably means you are wasting about £50 a week.

They have given me £40 in vouchers, however, I don't feel the offer is satisfying enough, considering the experience I went through with the police being their, the store being extremely packed (convenience store aswell, so everyone could hear what was going on), the manager from where I work at also being there and witnessing what was happening.

This incident happened a week ago, but I am still angry and upset about this incident. The manager who was serving me, didn't even check the vouchers out properly, he says he was scanning them and they weren't working, however upon reading the redeeming the printout of the vouchers, it says, it it does not work, please enter the redemption code manually.

Before calling the police, he called paypoint who even themselves confirmed everything was genuine.

The manager handle the situation really, really badly, I was waiting in the store for over an hour, I missed the birth of my son, because he was pretending to be on the phone to UKASH trying to sort it out, but he turned out he was on the police to the police.

I have spent thousands in the CO-OP they are my weekly shop store, and I spend on average £250 a week in their shops and after this experience I vow never to use their shops again.

I feel like going to the newspapers about this incident, I am not happy with their offer of apologizing with what has happened.

I strongly believe the manager acted the way due to the colour of my skin, and my age.

Have quoted whole thread before you change it.

It's not my sole choice where the money is spent on a weekly basis, If I'm honest I'm not fussed, though you make a good point about it being down around £50 a week.

I do apologize if I did say the manager phoned PAYPOINT before the police came, what I meant was the manager said to me he was on the phone to paypoint to try and see what was the issue, however this was not the case, he was on the phone to the police telling them that I came into the store with fraudulent vouchers.

He only phoned paypoint AFTER the police had turned up, which they confirmed the vouchers were genuine and not fraudulent which he assumed were the minute he took them off me.

This ALL would of been avoided had he phoned PayPoint before calling the police.

I will advise them that I will see legal action and take it to the papers.

With the luck you've had over the past few months are you sure this is a good idea? What if it all goes wrong and you go to the papers and then the whole nation thinks it's you who's got it wrong and then the obvious backlash that would bring?

That is why I suggested that if you are going to the press or go to a solicitor then get your story written down first so that you are clear and consistent every time you tell the story or they will laugh you out of the office and court.

Inconsistent facts and changing stories will only put doubt in the journalists mind and also the court.

Personally if it was me posting the original post I would have put my full story up along with the letter so that people got the tale from both sides rather than most of it being the co-OP response. I still do not know if they held you or just asked you to wait until the police arrived etc. did you ask for your vouchers back and try leaving or what?

What is your side of the story? What happened?

OP, could you not resize the images when you put them in the post at the start of this thread?

If the press picked it up they would get the story into a consistent ordered form before they published it.

The only real gripe I can see the OP might have is he was not afforded the opportunity for some privacy and was thus unnecessarily humiliated.

Of course, the degree to which others noticed would very much depend on how he conducted himself while the manager tried to sort things out. If he stood quietly I doubt anyone would have paid much attention. If he was getting irate and excited then he may have made a bit of a spectacle of himself.

In that first post he said "I was waiting in the store for over an hour" for at least some of that time he was waiting for the store to sort things out with Paypoint. He didn't say "I was held in the store...".

All this whilst his partner was in labour and the birth was imminent so that he could get some cheap clothes and make it more convenient for his friends.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Its more going a 15 minute away to a shop just as your partner is about to give birth.

"Excuse me Mrs Midwife what is the ETA of the baby?"
Midwife "it will come when its ready"
Me "do I have time to go to a shop, that is a 30 minute round trip"
Midwife "sure plenty of time for that, but make sure you do not spend longer than 10 minutes in the store as it will be here in 40 minutes!"
me "wife I will be back in 40 minutes"
wife "no worries hun, I can tell I will not give birth with in the next 40 minutes, but will have in 40-60 minutes."

If the shop had been a 3 minute walk then fair enough. But going 30 minute round trip. There would have a been a good chance the baby will be born anyway, even if you had not been held up at the shop.

    .

I do not think they can hold him in the store against his will? unless they made a citizen arrest.

Which by the above accounts has not happened.
Not sure it would count as fraud as he did not get the goods even if they had not been genuine vouchers. More attempted fraud.

Do stores make citizen arrests? They will have to be careful encase they get it wrong and the daily mail will want to print a sensational article on it, if they do.
