If it had been fraud, then the guy in the shop could have lost his job over that amount, so he did the right thing being cautious.
I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill and should take the voucher graciously.
Ps - missing the birth as you were 40 mins longer than planned? Labour usually takes over an hour, so I'm not sure what you were doing in the shop!
The guy was a **** basically. He did not do his job properly, he straight away assumed I was a crook and did not check the vouchers out properly, he should of checked the vouchers out properly in order to come to an conclusive decision that the vouchers were fraudulent.
After the police came, he phoned up Paypoint who confirmed the vouchers were indeed genuine. THIS IS WHAT HE SHOULD OF DONE AT THE BEGINNING.Why was this not done before your partner went into labour?
For someone complaining about how an apparently smug member of staff is racist and ageist based on a look they apparently gave you, this a very ageist comment.
I see no trolling, and btw means by the way... So you just wrote "by the way the way lol.
Now how about you drag yourself away from the computer, be happy with the £40 and spend some time with your son! Jesus. All you're doing is being a drama queen and missing out on even more of your sons first moments.
This was not done before because my OH's friend was getting ready to go soon as she her self had kids which she needed to pick up, as she leaves quite far away, liverpool, I thought I would just quickly pop up to redeem the vouchers and give her the cash to buy the baby clothes.
After much thought of what's gone on and the distress it has caused me, I am going to phone CO-OP on Monday and reject their offer of £40. £40 in STORE VOUCHERS, is an INSULT!
If they don't give me a significant better offer, I will advise them that I will see legal action and take it to the papers. Be honest, £40 for the treatment that I received, would anyone here accept that? The manager didn't even enter the codes properly!, he assumed they were fraudulent and called paypoint ONLY AFTER the POLICE ARRIVED! WASTE OF TAX PAYERS MONEY!!!0 -
It looks like you had a large number of vouchers with a barcode that wouldn't scan. I very much doubt they would have handed the goods over to a white person in this scenario so I don't think your race is relevant.
It was three print out vouchers of £100 each. The guy did not redeem the vouchers properly, he tried one and because that did not work, he straight away assumed they were fraudulent vouchers, the print out clearly states when scanning the vouchers, if they do not work, enter the barcode numbers manually, he DID NOT do this!0 -
And if they HAD been fraudulent, HE would no doubt have been hauled-up for his actions and even dismissed.
Likewise, if he had simply phone UKASH or Paypoint & they said the vouchers were fake, he would have still had to call the Feds.
+1 for the store here, I'm afraid.Never Knowingly Understood.

YES, This whole incident of me being embarrassed in front of everyone in the small shop, am me being very intimidated by police officers WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF HE HAD PHONED PAYPOINT IN THE FIRST PLACE WHO WOULD OF CONFIRMED THE VOUCHERS WERE INDEED REAL AND LEGITIMATE.
IF HE HAD DONE THIS STEP, AND THE VOUCHERS LATER ON TURNED OUT TO BE FRAUDULENT, HE WOULD OF BEEN COVERED AS HE GOT CONFIRMATION FROM PAYPOINT TO CONFIRM THE VOUCHERS WERE LEGITIMATE! CO-OP WOULD HAVE NO LEG TO STAND ON TO SACK HIM IF HE HAD DONE THAT AND WORST CASE SCENARIO HAD HAPPENED!0 -

Make your mind up. In your first post you said he called PayPoint first, now you say he called after.
If you are going to complain again or go to the press at least make sure you get your story straight in your head first and stick to it.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -

And did he not do this because of the colour of your skin?
It sounds like he may be incompetent but that doesn't make him a racist.0
